  1. A timeless classic, suitable for a little girl in her Sunday best or a Supreme Court justice.

Plus, if you have one of those fancy calligraphy pens, you can make the bottom stroke of the "z" loop under everything else and come up to touch the right-hand leg of the "h" for a very distinguished-looking name tag.

Plus she will be able to tell if boys like her by the way they either call her "Liz", to get it over with, or "Elizabeth", savoring every syllable.

Our daughter's middle name is Elizabeth.

  2. I love it!  It's a classic that will never go out of style.  And there are so many nicknames to choose from:  Liz, Liza, Lizzie, Libby, Lissie, Lissa, Eliza, Ellie, Beth, Bess, Bette, Bettie, Betsie, etc.

Elizabeth is my middle name, and I was named after my grandmother.  After doing some genealogy, I found that she was named for her grandmother, who in turn was named for HER grandmother, who was named for HER grandmother!  I hope one of my kids will name their daughter Elizabeth to carry on the tradition!

  3. Elizabeth is a very feminine name, very pretty. I think of it as an old, classic name.  It also happens to be my middle name.

  4. I love that name. It is my friends middle name and I have seriously considered legally changing my name to it.

  11. I really don't like it, but that's because it's actually my name, I have never liked it so I have always been known by my middle name, here's what it means.

    Elizabeth

The usual spelling of Elisabeth in English. It was first made popular by being borne by Queen Elizabeth I of England (1533–1603). In the 20th century it became extremely fashionable, partly because it was the name of Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (b. 1900), who in 1936 became Queen Elizabeth as the wife of King George VI, and, even more influentially, it is the name of her daughter Queen Elizabeth II (b. 1926). Variant: Elisabeth. See also Elspeth and Isabel.

Cognates: Irish Gaelic: Eilís. Scottish Gaelic: Ealasaid. French, German: Elisabeth. Italian: Elisabetta. Spanish: Isabel. Scandinavian: Elisabet. Polish: Elzbieta. Czech: Alžbeta. Russian: Yelizaveta. Hungarian: Erzsébet.

Short forms: English: Eliza, Elsa; Liza, Lisa, Liz; Beth, Bet, Bess; Elspeth; Lisbet. French: Élise, Lise. German: Elsa, Else, llse; Liese. Scandinavian: Elsa, Else; Lisa, Lise, Lis. Polish: Ela.

Pet forms: English: Elsie; Bessie, Bessy, Betty, Betsy; Tetty; Libby; Lizzie, Lizzy. French: Lisette. German: Lil(l)i; Elli.

    Hope this helps.

I have a friend with the name as well and we call her Bert, how stupid is that.

  12. its a beautiful classic name

  13. I always loved that name. Not many people use it for first names and I don't understand why. The only thing I don't like is the nicknames that come with it like Liz, Lizzy, and Eliza... Liz reminds me of lizard. But if it is kept in its full form I adore the name.

  14. It's so regal
