  1. Cool to use it in the name. Try it either as a middle name or as an initialed first name. Like: Garvey Hunt McCoy and call him Hunt.

                                         G. Hunt McCoy

  2. I do not think of it as a name at all but a last name if that, I do not much care for it but the choice is yours and not mine.

  3. I have to tell you the truth, I think it's hideous. Like Harvey but worse. I'm all for using family names, but maybe you could put Garvey as his middle name and something else for first name?

  4. Well, it's very "proper" sounding, do you know what I mean? That's a good name, but I think it would be best to be sure that it goes alright with your current last name.

  5. I actually like it

Name your son what you want..don't worry what others think..

  6. Maybe as a middle name, but not for a first name.

    Neat idea though :)

  7. I think Garvey is an excellent name, unique and different. I've never heard another child with the first name of Garvey, so I would use it for sure. Take it from someone whos child has a very popular name, my childs name is Will so everytime we are at a public function, I turn my head at least a dozen times when I hear someone yell Will, and usually it's about five more Will's wherever we are.

  8. i don't care for it but maybe Gavin will be a little better.

  9. it reminds me of gravy.

  10. I actually think it is amazing. It would be an awesome first name for a boy.

  11. i dont like it that much. its different! thats for sure

  12.   it reminds me of a garvey pricing gun...it is cute as a middle name though..(my opinion) but if you like it go for it .. though kids can be mean these days any name can be teased. :)

  13. I don't like it sounds like a food. sorry:( Avery is nice!

  14. I like your idea, but it sounds weird. Like previous posters said, I'd use it as the middle name.

  15. Before I saw your description, my first thought was, "It sounds like a last name." I personally like the tradition where sons have their mom's maiden name as a middle name. How about using Garvey as a boy's middle name?

  16. Not so good.. think in another name

  17. No.

  18. Hey there,

I want to do the same you are doing. My maided name is McQuaid which means son of Quaid. I would love to name my son Quaid.

Anyways, anytime someon asks me about a name I run it through my head a few times and try to figure out an angle on how kids could use it to pick on them... I used to have this boss and his last name was beever. He wanted to name is daugher Hunter. Which is pretty, but together its a little risque as Hunter Beever.

When I tried Garvey as a first name the only thing I could think of is a rhyme. LIke in Retardey Garvey.

I mean no disrespect... This is just a gift I have. It might be because I am a psychotherapist and I am always looking for something.

    Good luck

****.... THANKS GARVEY FOR ANSWERING MY QUESTION...

I know what you mean about nicknames because I grew up being called Long Wolf McQuaid which is a movie that Chuck Norris was in like a million years ago.

But, i agree with you it looks like we may have to settle with our maiden names as middle names. ha ha

  19. I don't really like it and remember his name is about him as an individual.  Plus say it about one million times in a row because that will cover maybe the first year of his life and if you still like it--there ya go

  20. well it is your own opion

  21. sorry but it sounds like a last name not a first

  22. its disgusting..it sounds like the word garbage
