  10. Even though it IS classically a boy's name, it reminds me more of a girl's name. I had a friend in high school named Keely, so maybe that's why? I like Keel or Kiel, which seems like a more masculine version...I think if you like it, you should go for it! It may not be everyone's style, but as long as it's yours, that's all that matters!

Just a suggestion...How about Brody? That reminds me of a handsome surfer guy, too!

The name Keely comes from the Irish origin. In Irish The meaning of the name Keely is: Handsome.

  11. keely is a girls name and sounds very feminine. not to be offensive and i'm sorry but is sounds like a g*y guys nick name!

  16. The boy's and girl's name Keely is of Irish origin. Variant of Kelly, meaning "strife, war". For example:  Actress Keeley Shaye Smith.

It's primarily a girls name and a boys surname but hey, it's your baby so name the him what you want.

The days of boy names like "John" or "Henry" are gone.

    Everybody wants to be different.

  17. Well, my girl cousin's name is Kiele. It's pronounced the same way, and it's Hawaiian for Gardenia. So it's a pretty girly name. I also know a girl named Keely. She's crazy and does a lot of drugs so I'm kinda biased on this one. I think you can name your kid whatever you want. You should just think about a teen or an adult with that name. It might be different once he's older.

  18. Keely.. hmm, to me it kind of sounds like a vegetable. Perhaps I am pronouncing it wrong though. Key-lee? If it is something like that then I am not sure that would be a suitable name. At best it sounds more like a name for a Girl. I say though, if you like it.. GO FOR IT! :) Best of luck!

  20. Keely is a girls name I think. I know a girl named that anyway.

  21. I wouldn't recommend it.  Keely is an increasingly popular name for girls. (ranked #731 among American girls in 2007.)  It would be a shame for your boy if Keely becomes widely known as girl's name.

  22. I have to be against Keely, too.  That's what my mom calls the keel of the boat.  "Go put the anchor on the keely."  It's just not working for me.

  23. "Keely" should not be a name for any human. It gives the word "tacky" a entirely new definition.
