My husband and I are expecting a girl and have a name picked out, but just in case it turns out to be a boy we thought about this name. I don't want a name they can get picked on for! Thanks for the help!

  1. If you mean Malachi Abron, then I love it!

With biblical boys names coming into fashion, your son would not be likely to get teased for a name like Malachi.  (The traditional spelling is Malachi, not Malachai, as a few have suggested.  I don't like the Malichi spelling you have.  It looks as if it should be pronounced muh-LEAKY or muh-LEACHY.)  Malachi was an Old Testament prophet whose name means "my messenger" or "my angel," so you'd definitely be giving your son a name with a lovely meaning.

I've never heard the name Abron before.  I just looked it up on Wikipedia; apparently it's the name of an West African people group and a few people who lived in classical Greece.  It's an interesting choice, but has a similar sound to common boys' names like Aidan and Aaron, so I think it could work.

You might also consider Malachi Abram if you like biblical names.  Abram was the original name of Abraham before God changed it.

  2. Hate it!

  3. I prefer the spelling Malachai.  But other then that, I like it-original with strong biblical roots-a good choice.

  4. I agree with sharkinthewater. I too prefer the spelling Malachai. Both names are very cute and I like them, but I do see some possible teasing. For example: Mal-icky, "A bra on", Ma l**k I. I know thats terrible, but kids can be so mean to each other! I don't really he would get teased a lot about his middle name though, because not that many people (like in his class at school) will know it. Otherwise I think you have a good, strong, and unique name!! Good luck and congrats to you and your husband! :o)

  5. I agree with the other person..I like Malachai. Though is Abron a personal name that has meaning? That is very interesting. I love parents that give their children a name with meaning. This is a strong name that not a lot of children are named. Good choice!
