  1. My honest opinion is I am not a fan of it, only because I think it would get butchard by english pronunciation... If you are based in a French speaking area, I think it would be better suited. :)

    But that's only my opinion.

    Have a wicked day!

  2. i think Melissa or Malisse sound good, im not really a fan of Melisande, but who cares what i think, its your baby :D

  3. I love it.

Melisandre is a nice alternative too.

  4. It originally reminded me of Melissa which I don't like but I think its kind of pretty!

  5. I think it is  a beautiful name!  Have a wonderful pregnancy and enjoy your baby girl...

    Blessings!

  6. It's one of my favorites.

Millicent is the English version of the name.

I like Millie as a nickname, but I guess Sandy would work too.

I've seen other spellings too, like Melisende, Milisand, Melisanthe, Melisantha...

  7. I love it!  expect to do a lot of repeating of the name.  most people will go huh? but then say that it's really pretty.  most people will also try once or twice to pronounce it before they give up, so it might help if you have a nickname already picked out because people will choose one for themselves otherwise.

my husband and I named our daughter geneviève (and we pronounce it the french way, jhon-vee-ev) and that's what happened to us.  and while we had a nickname for people to use, we didn't usually call her by her nickname.  we wanted her to know her real name and learn how to spell that.

  8. sorry.....not a fan

  9. I think it is beautiful.  It sounds sophisiticated but not weird, like some names are getting.  Besides there are several nicknames you can get out of Melisande

  10. I love Melisande! It is a Real name but certainly unusual. I would think a Melisande would love her name>

Melisande sounds pretty, intelligent, sweet, and definitely a leader, not a follower. What greater gift could you give your daughter?

    Beautiful choice! Congratulations!

  11. I don't like it.

  12. I think it sounds a bit too German and French to work well in America. Without either one of those accents, it ends up as mel-ee-sand instead of mel-ee-sahnd, which isn't so cute.

Melody, Melissa, and Melanie are all nice names that would work better for the typical English child.
