It is of greek origin and means, "honey bee". Do you think it's pretty or nice, or do you hate it, you know whatever you think. Is it an uncommon name or common where you live? This is for a school paper on my name, oh and my middle name is Kate so my actual name is Melissa Kate. What are anyones thoughts about the name? Oh yeah and do you know someone or have heard or read of someone who spells it diferently? Thanks in advance. Peoples input would really help me with my school report on my name.

  1. I think it's a bit boring, but it's not common at all where I live (in New York)

I love the nickname Lissy though! :)

    I never met a Melissa...

  2. I think it's alright, but kind of boring.

It's not overused where I live, but I'm sure nearly everyone knows a Melissa.

I've seen it spelled Mellissa also.

  3. I actually never knew the meaning of it. The meaning makes me like it more, honestly.

I think it's pretty. I know a few Melissa's. It's a timeless name and I don't think it could really go out of style.

  4. I didn't realise that's what Melissa meant.  It's kind of fitting somehow.

I imagine someone soft and feminine, and nice.  It's almost classic, you can't go wrong with it imo.

  5. I know somebody who spells it Milessa. I like Melissa better though.

I love the variety of nicknames (Liss, Lissa, Mel, Mia, Meli)

    It's classic.

  6. I like it my middle name is Melissa. It is very common but it's nice feminine name.
