I really want to name my son Michael Lee after my favorite wrestler who commited suicide Mike Awesome (please no rude comments about it). And he's due on January 24th (the same day Awesome was born).

What do you think about the name?

  1. Michael is as common as dirt but at least it is a real name not some made up,trendy, misspelled ,rip off ,of a girly name!!!!

me ex brotherinlaw is Michael a really great guy.my present brotherinlaw who is a total washed up loser is also named Michael!!

that said i suggest instead using this

LEE MICHAEL it is still the name you love but in a less common form,i like it a lot maybe you will too! good luck!!!

  2. Its nice and strong, ages nicely, but a bit common and boring.

  3. Its ok I thiink its tocommon but I love the idea of naming him after someone who influenced you so I would say go for it! :)

  4. Michael is a wonderful, classic name. Can't go wrong with a good name like that.

  5. I'm not sure I would name my son after someone who committed suicide. That's just my opinion though.  I have never liked the name Michael. Mostly because all the Michael's I have known are child molesters, abusers, druggies, etc. My own father is named Michael and he was abusive so I would never consider it. But it's your choice. My alternative would be Micah Lee. I love the name Micah. Well, anyway maybe someday I will meet a Michael that is a good person. Lol.

  6. yeh why not?

  7. I think it is a very nice, even without the acknowledgment of the wrestler.

Personally, I would not name my child after a wrestler, but I think it is great that you are including the name of someone influential, and someone you looked up to, in the name of your child.

  8. Michael is a great name but i like

Joshua Michael..... and then call him mike!=)

  9. The name has been excessively popular for fifty years or more--it was the #1 boys name from 1954-1998, and at #2 since 1999.  I can't think of anything more uninteresting to name a child, and the idea of naming him after a pro-wrestler who offed himself doesn't really strike me as the best legacy to try and bestow upon your child.

How about using Michael as a middle name instead?

  10. Michael (Mike) Lee is a great name :)

  11. Very common, I am not one to go so far fetched as to name my kids after fruits but Michael is very common..  I grew up with a very common name and always had 4 other kids in my class with the same name and I hated it.

  12. Well Michael (Mike) is a very common name.  I mean it's okay, but being named Michael, myself, It's quite annoying when somebody is trying to grab the attention of somebody named Michael and 20 people turn around to respond.

  13. i like it. nice, normal name -  and one of my bro's name is michael , so i guess i'm kinda biased.

  14. i really like the name michael too, only its a little too common for a first name, i think. there are just so many people who have the name michael that it would be sort of annoying to hear your name called and then remember, "oh, thats probably not me, someone else."

but if you want to name your child after mike awesome, sure, go for it. i like michael -- its a strong name, has a biblical reference from the archangel, has a good nickname. only if i were you, i would make michael the middle name. that way, you avoid having the problems of having a common name but you can still name your son after your favorite wrestler.

and if you want, you can choose a completely different name for the first name, if you dont want the first name to be lee. i know some guys dont like having "girl names"......

  15. Love it... it's definitely one of my favorites!!

  16. I love the name Michael! I think Michael Lee has a nice ring to it!

(I am not so sure that your son would be "proud" to be named after someone who KILLED himself....but, thats your call)

  17. I like Michael but it is used A LOT! My classes would always have more than one Michael. It's nicer to have a somewhat unique name that's only yours and makes you different yet special.

  18. Sounds cool who ares what other people think, when ur son is older he might think its cool 2 b named afta a wrestler!

  19. that will be very interesting if the baby was born the same day s the person he is named after.

and yes, i do like the name michael. even though it is super popular, it is a classic. it will never go out of style.

plus it has many nicknames for  it ya?

ok name him michael. it is your choice, but you DO have JASMYN'S SEAL OF APROOVAL! :]
