What do you think of the names Rachel and Melissa?

I like the name Rachel, one of my friends has that name.  But I also like Melissa, but not as much as Rachel.

rachel is my little sisters name (named from a character in a scifi film lol) and melissa is my best friends name. lol funny. i prefer rachel... cute nickname rach or rachy... but u should spell it rachael... its cooler that way

my name is melissa and i love it

its not too common and not too uncommon

and i dont have any nickname like mel, or missy

its not that hard to say "i prefer melissa" lol

i like rachel alot, melissa is good to...not too common any more....but everyone will call her mel, and forget if her name is melissa, melanie, or melanna

My name is Melissa and i really don't like it!!! I think it is really a 70's and 80's name and i doesn't suit me at all, and my sisters name is Rachel too but she like hers. I thinks it all depends on the person. One person will love it and another will hate it!!!! And as someone said, you don't have a nickname..Mel! so not pretty. I tried it once and people ended up calling me MELON!!!!! and still do!!!

I like the name rachel because you can call her Rach but i dont think Melissa can have a cute nickname. The number one thing you have to think is can this child live with the name and what will people call them for short

It's not that I don't like the name Rachel [after all, it is my name]. It's just that it is REALLY common. In high school, I had at least one other Rachel in each of my classes. In one class, there were actually 4 others. It got the the point that I actually hated my name. I didn't like being one of a million, I'd like to be one IN a million. I like more unique names.

I like Melissa, seeing that my name is Melissa. And as nicknames go for Melissa, I do not like to be called Mel either, but nicknames that I do like are Missy, Lissa, and Liss. I think that those are all really nice. Rachel is also a nice name, reminds me of Rachel from Friends.
