  1. It is standard "Brain in a Vat" theory . http://www.iep.utm.edu/b/brainvat.htm

Other than that, it is simply a fictional account of a different world, no philosophy involved that really matter one way or another to the world in which we live.

  2. Philosophy's radical scope can not be [re]presented in any single medium, much less the moving picture. What can be presented in a movie falls within the same general parameter as "Stageplay". Inasmuch as a movie BLURS the distinction it appeals to a specific strata of audience, that which is not difficult to "hold captive". Thinking has never been, and will never be, captivated by the Stageplay.

What then IS presented in the Stageplay? - This question can be answered by philosophy.

What IS presented in the Matrix Stageplay? - This question is of little concern to philosophers, who are quite content to relinquish the matter to those held captive.

...My own answer to this question all the while aware of the sense in which you use the word, and its unmistakable relation to Rhetoric.

  3. I've always thought it a modern twist on Plato's Cave, but Christian friends of mine insist it's a huge religious allegory..."Neo" is an anagram of the "one" they tell me which MUST be messianic.

Plato's World of the Forms is of course meant to be a lot more idealic than that Matrix's "real world".

  4. pathetic, boring, completely hedonistic, erratic, individualistic, impractical, narcotizing, predictable and unworkable.  its just there for the beautiful and vacuous, those that like being victims of a designer trap.  anybody with a different opinion and different clothes would be seriously re-educated'.

  5. i think not  therefore  i am not!!
