I want to hear your honest opinion. It's my friend's work and it was her first time and since I've never been into photography, I don't know what to say :))

  1. its good for a non professional.

  2. i say it's Beautiful!

  3. too blurry

  4. This is a very bad photo. It's blurry and it's framing is poor.

    Flowers in general are boring.

  5. Very... unremarkable...

It looks blurry.  It's not very pleasing to the eye.

  6. This would work better on a plain background, try using a black cloth next time. Also, it's a bit blurry. Be sure to check your focus and use a tripod.

  7. First the lighting was good. But the depth of field was too shallow. And I think there was some camera shake.Keep shooting you've got talent.

  8. i might have looked better if it was in focus and the lighting was better, and it was properly cropped and the color was adjusted.  But for the first time, it's alright.  Tell her to keep shooting and practicing.

  9. It blurry(out of focus) because you are too close.  Back up a  bit!

  10. Hummmm...Okay I see where she was going...I also see how some people might like the image (in an arts-ee way). It is hard when a friend asks your opinion on a photo that you know they worked hard on an you pretty much see as c**p. My suggestion: Tell her that you think the composition in strong, you like the layers...that the shallow depth of field (blurry foreground) didn't read well (it had you scanning the flowers behind and then you notice her walls) but that you think she is talented, the lighting was starkly creative....you may want to add that you will be exited to see how she grows as an artist...then ASK HER FOR A COPY (warm fuzzy guarantee).

Here's the thing: If she is just starting out the best think you can ever do is follow her work and encourage her to keep growing...(in a few years lay down the hammer) You don;t have anything to loose by being a softie. A good friend tells the truth yes...but also is compassionate. In this case..it's not a life altering situation so, be kind.

p.s. the photo is weak...in my subjective opinion..but it is art right? Not photojournalism or portraiture...still life (life as you see it) Good luck...it's sweet that you care.
