I'm referring to the players using a second pitch at Harrogate Cricket club. I'm mean really what next a 6 six for just going over the boundary at knee height?

  1. Please get real!

People coming to the grounds are looking for sixes, it is like banning the boxers from punching the other boxer...

  2. Actually it is a case of being a good neighbour. I think I would get somewhat annoyed if I got a cricket ball from a six in my garden perhaps hitting a member of the family or through a window maybe with the same result.

I'm no great respecter of 'elf 'n safety but often they get it right.

I can only hope the cricket club puts up some high netting on match days in the near future when they can raise the cash

  3. Don't want a ball through your window? Then live elsewhere.

Harrogate CC has been about for over 130 years, so people who move there should accept that the club was there first.

It's the same as those  who move to a house which is under, say, the Heathrow flight path, and then whinge about the noise the planes make.

  4. fifty foot or five inches above the boundary rope, a six is a six old bean. I have to agree with one of your other correspondents if you buy a dwelling in close proximity to a cricket ground then you have to accept that you might cop a 'kookaburra' or a 'dukes' in your pimms every other barbecue.

If the my other half can accept the youngest rattling the french doors with a 'cracin' ( Copyright Mr G. boycott ) cover drive then so should these miserable tykes.

  5. You cannot ban players from hitting sixers. It is the job of the city

and stadium organizers to put a large and high screen where in

the ball will never travel over it. In US almost all such parks and

stadiums (golf and baseball) in the residential neighborhood

    needs a mandated screen.

If this played by local cricketers and the league decides on

how take such measures. I know in some leagues when they

are played in residential parks where there is a danger of

ball flying out - a player is allowed only 1 six in the innings.

If he does repeat it again, he is out.

So it is matter of logical thinking and be proactive approach.

  6. Very sensible if you read the full story.

  7. i do not have a clue on what you are saying but getting rid of 6's would be getting rid of:

    1-sehwag

    2-symonds

    3-yusuf

    4-afridi

    5-gilly

    6-mccullum

    7-you get the point!

  8. It is like banning males from participating in s*x, owing to health reasons
