  1. I am against hunting as I would rather not clean a dead animal.  As for wolf killing...I don't think there is any reason to have an excess of those animals other than what is required to maintain the gene pool.

  2. Was it a legal hunt, based on sound, scientific wildlife management principles?  If it was then I suppose that I have to go along with it.  It was scientific data that made the argument for their protection, therefore it seems logical that they would be delisted based on the same.

I feel bad about it.  I see no reason why our plentiful land cannot be shared by domesticated and wild animals alike. I would pay a little more for beef to compensate for ranchers' losses just to know that wolves are again part of our land.

  3. I really don't care about wolves at all actually. Good riddance.

  4. i did not like it at all

  5. It is a darn good start. I think the wolves never were endangered Canada and Alaska have always had plenty. I wish they would put them in upstate so I could hunt them. I

  6. If the wolves were shot by ranchers who were protecting their herds, more power to them.

It's unfortunate that those wolf-loving environmental groups who promised to pay restitution to the ranchers for animals killed by wolves have reneged on those promises...  Often, those groups use the excuse "you can't tell if the dead animal was actually killed by wolves - perhaps the wolf was eating an animal that was already dead".

    c**p!

It's a fact that wolves attack livestock, and it's also a fact that when the rancher submits a claim for restitution, the wolf-lovers backpeddle from holding up their end of the deal.  What does that leave?  A rancher who will shoot the wolf immediately on site.

    That's fine with me.

  7. Really sucks.

  8. This depends on whether there was enough food for the wolf population of the area. If wolves are starving, or they are rapidly depleting their supply of food, then killing some will not hurt the population. If their quarry, deer, are running short on pasture, then it is important to keep every wolf available to  limit deer population growth.

We can not protect wolves by paying more for beef. Higher beef prices do not compensate those who allow wolves to eat their cattle, but instead those who kill every wolf in sight, so that they can sell their beef.

It is extremely difficult to teach wolves to  avoid eating cattle or sheep whenever deer populations are short. And they do not go back to eating only deer once there are enough deer.

What happens is that wolf populations rise until either they run out of food or someone kills them.

Ranchers protect their herds or you do not eat. It is not an option to bid a higher price than the wolves pay. The wolves will build population until you get no beef if ranchers do not protect your supply.

  9. It's not a happy thought; I mean who wants to hurt an animal, but what are the locals supposed to do?  It easn't easy being a small rancher.  I lived in the backcountry of Montana for a few months, many years ago, and I learned a bit about it.  Let me tell you, those people work hard for the money and there's not much of it.  A little thing like a predator killing a couple of their stock can really hurt them.

Edit:  I have to respond to this....

Living in the People's Republic of Cambridge, I long ago realized that at least half the white liberals in America hate traditional Whites with an intensity and a venom that is itself truly and deeply racist.  Their hatred of the human beings they demonize as "rednecks" is the true wellspring of their supposed passion for justice and tolerance.  Ashley's post is a perfect example of this.  She's actually advocating the killing of human beings to protect some stupid animals.

    Insane; utterly, completely insane....

  10. When I think of the elk and cattle that have been saved from these three wolves, I just tear up. I guess I'm just an animal lover at heart.
