  1. I think we are just paranoid. The earth has been here for long time. and survived all kinds of things. We will disapear just like the dinosarious..but the earth will be just fine. I think that people who are too concerned about it have a very easy life like the celebritites. When you have a lot of things/problems going on in your life the global warming is the last thing u will think of.

  2. global warming

Looks like you have you eyes open. Can’t say that about to many people in society today. Most of us walk around with blinders until a catastrophe hits, then we wake up pretty quick. Unfortunately we go blind again a few months later…

Let me start off by saying we (my family and I) live 100% off of the grid and are completely self-sufficient with a 0% Carbon footprint. I believe this is the first step anyone can make “help the environment”. Once you convert your own life style to a greener more eco friendly route, you can start helping others.

We definitely didn't start global warming, but we definitely do contribute to it now.

Natural gas (or Methane along with other thanes) for example, is completely a natural contributer to global warming and is derived pretty much the same way as oil. ie. Matter (animal, plant etc) decomposes over time resulting in a anaerobic (hope I spelled that right) decay of non-fossil organic material / gas (natural gas or methane).

One problem with global warming is that the concept is so vague in the minds of the people. The critical interpretation is basically how it’s explained in school and the news. However most of the public see global warming connected with the ozone and pollutants which cause harmful greenhouse gasses, etc. therefore investigating and fighting for things like alternative energy (ie. Solar, wind, hydrogen, ethanol, biodiesel, etc)

Greenhouse gases are real and do contribute to global warming. Think of the different gas layers like ozone (o3) that circumference the globe as the clear plastic on a greenhouse. Longer rays of light from the Sun go in and reflect off different thermal masses bouncing back and creating shorter lengths of energy that cannot exist the plastic barrier. These beams then just continue to bounce around inside the green house until they’re finally absorbed completely (some do escape but very few), thereby warming the greenhouse greatly even in cold temperatures.

Basically there are 2 ways that this reaction (or lack of) affects the planet. Global warming and global cooling.

    1. as we add to the gases in the stratosphere, where the ozone layer is (Carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, etc), we add to the plastic of the greenhouse, trapping more short wave length energy and heating the earth more.

    2. as we deplete the ozone (with chlorofluorocarbons or CFCs), we allow more long wave length energy, which bounces back out to space without heating any thermal masses on earth, thereby cooling the planet.

It’s pretty easy to see the results..

    Melting ice sheets & glaciers

    Floods & droughts

    Great hurricanes & cyclones

    Seasonal extremes

    Seasonal phenomena’s

    Species extinction

    New & resurgent diseases

There are many ways to stop both global warming and cooling from accruing or at least slow them down until we can discover a way to reverse it, but Stop burning fossil fuels is the biggest.

I currently own 2 converted h2 vehicles which run on 100% hydrogen and 1 EV (electric vehicle), not to mention our home is completely off the grid, using alternative energy (solar, wind, etc)

If you interested I offer several DIY alternative guides to walk you step by step threw Greener living, how to run your car on alternative fuels and being self-sufficient, at agua-luna com or

  3. Scientists agree that the earth's temperature has risen. But how much worse will it get? And, is human activity a factor in the warming?

Global Warming is REAL and a scientific fact but what is up for debate is if in fact humans have played a part in it, such as the greenhouse effect or is it a natural earth cycle and is there anything humans can do about it?

  4. iTS REALLY HAPPENING!! C02 AND FOSSIL FUELS ARE CAUSING THE OZONE LAYER TO GET HOLES INSIDE!!!!!!!!!!!

  5. It is happening, and if we are to survive we will need to grow gills or evolve into mammals with blow holes like whales and porpoises within the next 2-3 hundred yrs.

  6. Really happening.

This is science and what counts is the data, not wordy arguments.

"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”

Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)

    Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut

Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:

And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know...  Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point.  You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

  7. the endless bickering is becoming tedious but

  8. We are just being made to be paranoid.

  9. There isn't any question that it's happening. Now, I don't mean to sound presumptious or arrogant, but anyone who says that there has been no net increase in global temperatures over the last 30 years is wrong - satellite data shows this pattern clearly, and the vast majority of the scientific community acknowledges this.

The problem is whether this is anthropogenically induced or not. It is true that the Earth heats up in natural cycles, but the rate at which we are seeing an average increase in global temperatures is too fast to be natural. On a side not, although some places may get colder, the Earth on the whole is getting warmer.

As a geologist interested in climatology, it is my opinion that global warming is happening (there isn't really a debate over that any more) and that it is anthropogenically induced. There's just so much evidence pointing to that conclusion.

  10. no we are not paranoid, it is real. have u noticed the temperature. take a look at some pictures of the arctics fourty years ago and now. then come back and tell me we are paranoid

  11. According to NASA, our planet is cooling.  NASA's eight weather satellites recorded global cooling of .7 degrees Celsius during the last year.  The temperature decleine nearly erased the one degree celsius global warming of the previous 100 years.

The Ice Ages tell us the Earth has warmed and cooled many times over millions of years.  Industry activites and use of Fossil Fuels were not responsible.  Our global tems change bcause of the variance of warmth our planet receives from the sun.

The Hoover Institution recently came to the same conclusion.  Hoover's Bruce Berkowitz stated, "Try as we might, we simply could not find any relationship between industrial activity, energy consumption, and changes in global temperatures."

The Hoover study concludes, "If every power plant and factory in teh world were shut down, it would not significantly change the global temperatures."

  12. paranoia is an over-reaction to a real threat, so i suppose some people are paranoid. complacency is an under-reaction to a real threat, so i am sure a lot of people are being complacent.

i'm quite confident of my risk assessment skills, so i think i'm probably neither. from what i have seen, i am convinced global warming is real, it is causing measurable climate change already and that this will increase exponentially.

  13. It is not as real as we think.

  14. If you want to make a lot of money then it's happening but if it's going to cost you heaps then it's rubbish and that's about the guts of it.

Scientists and companies that are earning large amounts of money from this scam will do so from now till the whole planet freezes over. It's a scam that has so much momentum now you would be hard pressed to stop it. It's nearly to the point that to denounce Global Warming politically , would be suicide.

  15. well i think global warning is already happening but only because people are littering and bush is president..... Earth was beautiful and pristine once but now that humans have entered onto earth it looks like ****.... we are the ones to blame....if every one started to clean it up like take away cars,roads,signs,tvs,computers,oils,ect.... then maybe earth would be beautiful and pristine like it once was.......

  16. we've started to cool http://www.iceagenow.com

  17. If man made g/w could be backed up w/ complete, unbiased and unaltered science there would be room for discussion. However, there is more and more evidence coming out showing that man made g/w is a myth. More and more is being revealed about the lies and altered "evidence" that Gore and the IPCC have crammed down our throats thus exposing them for what they really are.

Throughout history there have always been those who have profited off of the fears they instill upon others and this is no different.

The Earth is going thru a natural cycle and thats the bottom line.  Even the planets in our solar system are experiencing "global warming" right now.  If they are having it too, wouldn't that lend support to the idea that the Sun is the PRIMARY cause of global warmings. After all, theres no "man" on the other planets to cause it.

Additionally, the alarmists only include data that fits their needs at the time. IF and I mean IF they would use all data, they would disprove the very thing that they are trying to prove.

  18. Yes, the earth is getting warmer. But we don't know why. The fact is, CO2 emmisions are going up along with global average temperatures. However, correlation is not causation, nor is coincidence correlation. The earth has gotten warmer before, and many species have died because of global warming before humans existed. That said, greenhous gasses are not good by any standard, and there are many good reasons besides the environment to switch to alternative energies and fuel (i.e. energy independence and cost). In the end, we may or may no be causing global warming. I think the most likely answer is that we are increasing a pre-existing natural warming trend, but even I cannot say for sure.

In any event though, we should do all we can to stop global warming, whether or not we are the root cause.

  19. Really Happening = yes

CO2 causes heat retention = OK i'll buy that

    Paranoid = yes!

the world is warming and some of that is Anthropogenic Global Warming, However there will not be the gloom and  doom, wild and extravagant, changes to our world like you see in fiction movies or the near fiction documentaries you see on the  Discovery Channel and Nat Geo. Mostly everything you see blamed on global warming are natural occurances that would have happened anyhow, but the AGW crowd are zealots with an agenda, so they will use anything they find to convince people this is the end of the world. If left unchecked global warming will cause not much change at all.

That being said, we still have to take care of our planet and minimize the pollutions we do add, and also look for other energy sources because oil is finite and will run out eventually.

  20. No !!! Gw3 is an scam and U bought it. Check with your shrink.
