  1. What about it? The mayan calander ends and starts over, signifying a celebration of a new 13 times 400 year cycle. A celebration like they did every day at noon by sacrificing someones head. This is not a phrophecy at all, a marketing scheme to sell T shirts is a better name for it. Although yes, something amazing does happen cosmologically. Our solar system becomes aligned with the equator of the milky way, and will stay aligned for the next few thousand years. This happens every 600,000 years so it is new for us. Well technically everything is new to us, our entire human existence and industrialization has come during a brief moment of good weather. For the most part, earth has been either a snow ball or a molten rock of lava, so I dont know why there are all these prophecy's, a third grader can tell you that this weather wont stay perfect forever. And that violent things are going to happen either naturally or un-naturally.

  2. Well, it can be just where the calender ended, by coincidence. But it may also be because they actually predicted the world ending on the year 2012, thus making it not important to keep the calender going.

I personally am a little freaked, and I'm anticipating it like crazy. But part of me wants to believe that it's all just how we've perceived it. I don't know what's going to happen, and that has me intrigued, and scared out of my mind at the same time.

  3. I think its a year we will enjoy the Summer Olympics in London, the world population will reach 7 billion, we will be re-electing John McCain, the Orion spacecraft will be well under way in its testing as a Shuttle replacement, and the incoming freshmen college classes will graduate.

    Beyond that, nothing much.

  4. Take heed for 2012 is just the revealing of the 'antichrist' or the 'man of lawlessness' at the middle of what Jews and Christians call the 7 year Tribulation. Many pagan cultures from every corner of the world (Sumerians, Babylonians, Cherokee, Hopi, Chinese I-Ching {confirmed by T.McKenna}, Mayans, Egyptians, Celts, Satanists, etc...) celebrate this evil event called "the abomination that causes desolation". When will Yeshua Ha'Mashiach (Jesus) come? Only God Himself knows, but soon. If you believe or not, that is up to you. Either way it still comes.

Things to look for to PROVE it to yourself soon:

    >Crash of American banks and its financial underpinning: Operation Sitting Duck

    >Fall of America as an economic power and other ways.

    >The Big One: Revelation 18. America goes down on the list of fabled societies nobody believes in any more like Atlantis, Mu, Lemuria, Hyperborea, etc..

    >Martial law. (Google some of Bush's executive orders concerning it- Nightmarish!)

    >Implementation of Project Bluebeam (be ready to hear more and more 'alien talk'... watch your local skies for the show!) Google and youtube it. Aliens... aliens... aliens...

    >Trying to make people first accept the REAL ID card (to get you in the system) and then right after forcibly implanting people with these RFID microchips:

    >The start of the North American Union.

    >Push to attack Iran which will start WW3-the atomic war to end all wars. (If you think China, Russia, and the Muslim world would just sit back, you are a mistaken fool!)

    >Final push to one world government: The New World Order- The 4th Reich!

(The brutal final empire foreseen by Daniel and John)

    >Rise of a miraculous and awe mesmerizing world leader later to turn world dictator.

    >Push to one world religion where there are "manys ways to God".

    >Toleration of everything but Jews and Christians.

    >Temporary and unheard of "peace in the middle east".

    >Revelation13:10  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0P-hvPJPT...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epMeGr-wD...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mNPn2JLz7...

    >More world wide food shortages and famines.

    >More earth quakes. More fires. Strange and severe weather.

    >Major spiritual awakenings.

    >Rise of Islamic fanaticism.

    >Rise in wickedness and corruption.

Christians and Messianic Jews look forward to this as it means they will soon join their Messianic Saviour in the Millennial Kingdom of the next Age and their Heavenly Father later as "Children of Light". If you try to equate 2012 with Y2K or some other date that cried wolf, then you will be making the worst mistake in your life. Research all these things FOR YOURSELF!

  5. we're gona die

    :D

its because of something about the mayan calendar that only happens every time and we just happen to land on that in 4 years

    its in december

  6. <<what do you think of the year 2012?>>

    It'll occur between 2011 and 2013.

  7.   I think it should be a pretty good year.

  8. First thing is what do you think?

There are many ways we can wipe out an ancient civilizationn...nuclear warfare, lack of food/water, meteor impact, alien invasion (if you believe in them), outbreak of deadly disease...many ways

Just think though, is it at all possible that all the water runs out in 4 years? Scientists can predict that no meteor is going to hit us in the next 4 years also (might later on though).

Another thing you have to focus on is the fact that Mayans did not know of our technology and probably would not even have been able to imagine it. Therefore you can take nuclear warfare out of the equation and I am sure the world leaders are smart enough. You can also take anything related to recent techonology including Alien invastion out of the equation.

Global warming will not make an effect by 2012, yes it is deadly, but not in such a short term...

Also there is no hard evidence to support the theory of a gamma ray burst or a solar flare, our sun may be orbiting a black hole, but it had done nothing in the past so why now...once again scientists can predict that and nothing that huge is going to happen in 4 years.

Also we predict that only because the mayan calender stops in December 2012 …so here is another proof

when a calendar comes to the end of a cycle, it just rolls over into the next cycle. In our Western society, every year 31 December is followed, not by the End of the World, but by 1 January. So 13.0.0.0.0 in the Mayan calendar will be followed by 0.0.0.0.1 - or good-ol' 22 December 2012, with only a few shopping days left to Christmas." - Excerpt from Dr Karl's

    Hope that helped convince you...

You are definately not going to give up your future for this chance, you are goign to grow older, you are going to get a car, buy a house and everything we already do...so it shouldn't even matter.

  9. I am thinking about running for President of the USA in 2012.

    Heck, why not?

Have you seen some of my competition?  Some are nice guys, but I don't think any of them are rocket scientists.  We really need smarter (and funnier) candidates, so I am officially throwing my hat into the ring for the 2012 election!  Yeah, me!

I'd say the 2012 End-Of-The-World Hoaxers are gonna be surprised.

  10. I think it is great. I will be eligible for Social Security!

  11. This is a myth based on the irresponsible, (and repeated) airing of a ridiculous pseudo-documentary on the History Channel. That network, and the Discovery Channel and Fox, will air anything they feel will get a bigger audience. Sometimes, their shows are good and worth watching. Other times, they are foolish, sensationalist, tabloid-style hype. It is often difficult to tell which is which, unless you know about a subject. I know about the history of doomsday predictions, pseudoscience, and astronomy.

The Mayan calendar does not predict the end of the world. They did keep an accurate calendar, but contrary to popular opinion, never predicted any world event accurately. They couldn't predict their own demise; why should they be able to predict ours?

The alignment with the galactic center is not going to happen. It comes fairly close to happening EVERY year on Dec 21, and will be exactly the same as it always is, in 2012. Even if some perfect alignment did occur, there is nothing about it that could affect the earth. It's like saying, "When these three parking spaces are occupied by three red cars, the world will come to an end."

Doomsday prophets have always been around and they are always wrong. Every 5 to 10 years, some prediction catches the public's attention and scares a lot of kids...usually thanks to irresponsible media decisions. Dozens of different doomsday scenarios have been piggy-backed on to this date since the show aired. Go to this site to see how many predicted apocalypses we have already missed.

All that Nibiru stuff is bunk, too. No such planet has ever been discovered. The claim that it was discovered some 25 years ago is not true.

  12. Isn't that the year that the rogue planet from our solar system is supposed to return?

Aside from a few idiots that think that Dec 21st 2012 will be the end. I suspect it will be pretty much the same as every other election year.

  13. i think that supposedly on the mayan or aztec calendar it is gonna be the end of the world but these were also barbaric people that decided human sacrifice would be a good idea...also they were people that suffered many and many a years from diseases that could easily be cured by not peeing or going to the bathroom upstream when u drink from the same place downstream...

  14. he's nice, but he's married

  15. yeah i think paula radcliff will be a bit old to win gold by then

  16. I think all the people on Yahoo answer will die because they are clueless on the whole theory and logical reasoning behind it. Something  might or might not happen, but its better to be ready for it than to ignore it, being ready for it means that you are aware that its possible that the next 5 years will bring mass extinctions to Earth, so find out where you need to be to have a chance at surviving massive natural catastrophes.

I believe it will happen, I can fill you in on what I believe, just Im me, my aim is my username. I am on at night.

  17. A year like other years.  Many people will die.  More will be born.  More will be going hungry as food prices rise.  At the end of the year a lot of ex-middle school students, deluded by a History Channel show, will have to choose another year for the world to end. Or they might have grown up.

  18. Hopefully, once Roland Emmerich's silly disaster movie comes out, people will see all the doom and gloom predictions for what they are...

    Nonsense.

Otherwise, we'll probably have my mum visit for the summer so she can rent her apartment in London to Olympics fans at some extortionate rate.

My youngest kid will start Kindergarten

    And I'll be over 40...

If you want my opinion on the various "hypotheses" (I think that word gives them too much credit)...

    The Mayans are dead

Therefore as an end to "the world" 2012 was a wildly optimistic estimate for them!

Planet X/Nibiru does not exist. If it did we would have found it by now. We have mapped the sky in the infrared several times in the last 25 years (ncluding WMAP, IRAS etc), and it would show up. It is not there. We would have found it if it existed. So all the nonsense about the return of Nibiru/Planet X is just that – nonsense

There is no scientific evidence for the existence of Nibiru

Furthermore, at the distance it must be to hit us in a little over 4 years, it would be reflecting enough light from the sun to be detectable.

Thanx to previous answers from Brant and bikenbeer2000, we know how bright it should be by now – it would have a apparent magnitude of 7.4 – which would not be visible with the naked eye – but easily visible in a modest telescope and would have been spotted by amateur. If there was a conspiracy to keep it quiet – it would be out of the bag by now.

Ask someone where it is supposed to be, get a pair of binoculars and look for it.

The videos on YouTube that purport to have evidence are disingenuous to say the least. They put together pictures of other objects (e.g. Jupiter, comets even a dust shell around a distant red giant star) and try to scare people. There is no validity to their claims. They present NO EVIDENCE at all.

As for the predicted catastrophes – the most popular one seems to be the Pole Shift!

The sun will have a pole reversal that year – it has one every 11 years – it is not a problem.

The earth’s magnetic field is less predictable

However - we know that the magnetic field does not collapse in the process - if it did, there would be major extinctions that correlate with the geologic record for pole reversals - there is no correlation.

  19. i think it will be interesting to see when nothing happens when many people think something will happen.

  20. the world will come to an end, Dec 21 2010, the day after my 21st birthday.  So i will probably have a hangover.

  21. fed up of hearing about it already
