  1. Call the cops!!

  2. I dont think smacking the kid is a good idea or they might turn into abusave people when they get older and those relationships never work

  3. I agree with your first answer toast and sausage lol.. kids need to be hit! these days children are spoilt brats! I know a girl i babysit and her parents never hit her they just sent her to her room if she was bold and now she is a spoilt brat who crys over EVERYTHING and especially if she doesn't get what she wants everybody is sick of her and should be hit when she starts crying and being bold.... I also babysit 2 other girls and their so good and have such good manners they were disciplined when they were younger and hit when they were bold and they turned out so well x

  4. Not only is it ineffective to hit a kid for crying, it's wrong. It only teaches them that hitting is the way to assert one's authority and control another.  Children often do annoying things to get attention or test the rules.  When parents respond by hitting, the child has, in a way, gotten what they wanted.  Even negative attention is attention, and finding that attempts to annoy the parent succeeded can be rewarding to the child in a certain way.  Who wins?  Certainly not the parent.  A better response to crying for attention or "pushing the parent's buttons" is to ignore it and remove the child from the situation.

Of course, that's assuming the child is just doing this to get their way. If s/he really isn't getting enough attention, that's a different situation, but hitting would be even worse then.

  5. it teaches the kids not to do it again, after a while anyway. my dad and mum used to hit me for anything i did that was bad. i turned out ok.

the naughty step is a lot of c**p, slap them if they're being spoiled brats

  6. I think it's pretty awful.  Especially considering that a father did that in the next town over a few weeks ago to his *7 week old daughter* and hit her so hard that he caved the side of her head in and she died.

I don't know why you would hit or spank a child who was crying even if they were throwing a tantrum.  But, I don't know why anyone would hit or spank a child anyway really.

  7. First It depends on how hard, and where the "hit" is aimed. Secondly, does the kid need a right smack because he or she is being a brat, or is the father impatient.

I really  am not too in favour of smacking children very hard or often. At the same time I am not in a position to evaluate without more details.

  8. What do I think?  I think it's stupid to hit a child for crying, no matter what the reason.  What is that going to resolve?  It's just going to make the kid cry more.

  9. I don't believe in smacking kids for anything, if it worked you would only ever have to do it once in a lifetime, but you don't, proof it doesn't work. Anyone who annoys anyone for the sake of it is immature and not worthy of your company.

  10. They learn not to cry just because they aren't getting what they want. My parents used to hit me when I was being bad and I came out perfectly fine I don't have any psychological problems. Children have to be disciplined sometimes just by talking to them it doesn't work.

  11. They need shooting! I would never hit my children, it is so evil and if my childrens father ever hit my children (he wouldnt do that) but if he did then he would never see me or his children again.

  12. I think the children grow up to be hitters too.

  13. I can honestly say my dad only ever hit me twice in all my years growing up, just the threat of him was enough to make me behave myself haha. My mam would always say "i'll tell your dad when we get home" and that was me - good as gold !

My mam used to hit me for being naughty and it has never done me any harm at all, in fact my mam is my best friend now, i would be totally lost with out her. I have turned out 'normal' no problems what so ever ! BUT i do have respect, manners and honesty..... some thing the naughty step can't give you x
