  3. I think Time4learning is very childish for a 7th grader.  I have 2 8th graders and 1 10th grader and I can't imagine any of them would last with this program even if the content were challenging, which it does not appear to be.

I notice that Connection Academy does not have a literature program for Middle School which is where your child would be placed.  I would consider that a problem.  My other question about this program is "Who are the teachers?".  My child is in a cyber school that is a charter school and I had the opportunity to meet all her teachers and can call them whenever I feel I need to.  They are all certified teachers in our state.

I am not sure about the rules in New York....I think you need to look into whether or not your local district would accept either of these schools or if you would have to have your child's work review by an independent auditor as we would in our district.

  4. I am a 8th grade home schooled student in FLVS. That is the best! Connection Academy is harder and they give you alot more homework. Also I have never heard of Time4Learning.

  5. I prefer to choose entirely private home-schooling.

Many of the public-school programs are merely "school at home" without the opportunity for the parent to streamline the education to meet each child's specific needs.

We have used many different resources over the years.  And 10 yr ago settled on the Robinson Curriculum as our foundation for study.  We utilize many books and other sources for just about everything that we learn.

  6. ive been in time 4 learning for 7th grade and i must admit, its kina childish with animation and alof of notes to write. i dont know about commention academy but time for learning didnt really comply with the stuff they were doing in school.

  7. We use time4learning and it is great. It only goes up to 8th grade, though. It is very interactive and fun and helps my daughter to learn and she did not learn anything in school (teacher admitted the admins wouldn't let her help my daughter)

SHe is doing great with time4learning and the $ 20 a month is so worth it!!

  8. You can build a much more challenging course of study on your own.  Here is what I would use for 7th grade, (of course you may have other preferences).

    Teaching Textbooks Math 7

    Hewitt Lightning Literature

    Grammar Review

    Apologia General Science:

    SOS History and Geography

Then I would add to that some electives, depending on what your child is interested in.
