I took them both at Lake Mary Ronan.

They aren't really landscape but I don't know what else to call them. Any critique please. Constructive criticism welcome! Thanks.

  1. First one: spoiled by lens flare. The sun should not have been included in this shot. Apart from this, the shot appears to be an attempt at a silhouette, but it doesn't work well because you didn't find a clear background for the breakwaters to be silhouetted against.

Second one: good idea, and the side/backlighting is about right, but the actual splash is unsharp. This sort of shot is very much chance and guesswork, added to which you need the reactions of a fighter pilot to get the timing right, so actually under the circumstances it's not too bad.

  3. I do love the first one, but I do think it would be better without the glare. The second photo I think would have been better from a lower angle... Still, I think they look amazing for a fellow newbie! :D Good luck!

  4. for a new shooter you doing great,

maybe try youtube and search some photography tutorials, study up on composition, view points and perpective

enjoy what you do and have fun, thanks for the share

  5. second one is pretty good. nice color in focus not blured from camera motion (atleast at first glance)

second one is blown out from sunglare

    keep working on it.

photography is challenging and not always easy. practice practice practice and some study are in order to improve. don't forget to have fun with it too.

  6. I think the first one would have been better without the sun glare. A few steps to the left would have worked. Also...I really wanted to see more of those jagged rocks and less of the sky. A lower angle would have worked better. I love the second one....very interesting shot. I like it because the viewer doesn't know what made the big splash, so we can only wonder. Very cool. Good job!
