  1. 1- you are NOT going to get a GOOD sword for 50-100.

at BEST what you might get is a good slab of metal that might have similar weight for a real sword good for what we would call "blunt sparring" where you gear up and strike your opponent with full intent (thats why you wear gear).  this puts a HEAVY wear on the sword and will damage it- which is why you don't use expensive blades for it- unsharpened of course.

even still, these don't even go for that cheap.

2-  as a real sword for cutting and to function as one, I would say that the quality can't be any good.  the site claims that the second one is of "stage combat" quality- what bothers me about that is that stage combat swords are almost inevitably of incorrect weight and lack proper balance because they are meant to be used as part of a choreographed routine, not for martial arts training or cutting practice.

for a european sword you are looking in the 500 - 800 range on average.

here are some helpfull links about them.

  2. Very nice, I hope you don't plan on using them though. No matter what the adds say, those are not anything more then re-enactor swords. They weren't made for hard use.

  3. I would honestly tell you...Save Your Money.

  4. Don't waste your money. You should save for something nicer. That site is dangerous too. They might find themselves in a lawsuit if they aren't careful. They say the second sword you listed has a "factory edge" which means it IS sharp. However, they say it is suitable for "full contact use" or as they describe, "stage steel quality. Someone out there will probably cut their friends hand off because THE WEBSITE SAID IT WAS FOR FULL CONTACT USE.

Not very smart of them. I assume that no matter what we say regarding saving your money, you will go ahead and buy something anyways, I would atleast vote for the gladius. It looks decent but you should realize that it is not for any use. Just hang on the wall and look nice.

  5. Owning swords really is a treat, but impractical when your trying to eat. When money is already bare why waste it for something in a month you won't care. Honestly save your money and get something useful, maybe a scholarship money to get yourself back to school.

  6. Been practicing Iaido and Kenjutsu for many years. I have never seen any swords that were any good for less than several hundred dollars.   Save your money cheap swords are only good as wall decorations. They may look good but are really of bad quality.  I've seen many of them break easily if used to try to cut.  The stainless steel are the worst when it comes to breaking. They may shatter and the pieces may go anywhere.

  8. There are a lot of swords under a hundred on this site http://www.onemanknifefight.net/knife-sw...

  9. Anything that price you are going to end up with hot rolled low carbon steel that has been chromed.  Very poor quality.  That is what they mean by "Museum Quality" they are meant to be looked at from behind glass at a distance.

For once, I agree completely with Bluto... :)

  10. These are swords, my friend^_^:
