My cousin Linda is getting married in May next year. The colors of her wedding will be pink and brown. My question is, how much will a wedding cake such as the ones below cost? She is a currently attending nursing school, so she has a budget. If you can find anything like these with a lower cost, that would be great! Thanks!

  1. I think you should choose the 5th one and take the picture with you to local bakeries and ask them to give you an estimate and go with the best deal.

  2. First off, the cakes are lovely.  I love the first and last ones, they have such nice, crisp lines.  Secondly, at lot of them are made with fondant and that does get expensive.  I am having a 4 tier, butter cream cake (I am not a huge fondant fan) which will feed 100 people and it will cost $375.  Fondant will jack up the price of a cake significantly.  If they did butter cream frosting with fondant finishing that may help with the price, and then less tiers depending on how many people she is inviting.  The best thing is to talk to a baker.  (Note:  Square cakes feed more people than round ones so go with those, they don't charge you more for square/round per layer.  Also, if you can get away with not having fondant on the cake, do it.  No one eats it anyways, they usually pull it off).

  3. The best thing to do would be take these pictures to a local bakery or person you know of that makes wedding cakes. That person could give you an estimate price on what a cake like these would cost. Then do a little shopping around at other local wedding cake bakery's and go from there. Good Luck!

  4. id go with the 5th one . it's lovely.

if you knew someone who baked cakes you could ask them.

im getting married too and i priced the cakes too they started at 300 euro and went up so im hopein i can get a friend to make mine

  5. The fifth one!

  6. the cost of things varies by where you live.  I have no idea what bakers in your area will quote you for these type of cakes.  bring the pictures to bakers in your area- where the reception will be held- and ask them

  7. the fifth is gorgeous! i wish i wouldve done it...my colors were pink and brown!

  8. the 1st one. it looks elegant, beautiful n sophisticated. u can go to local bakery n ask them to make the cake like the pic.

  9. only the one with the roses seems really appropriate for a wedding and given that its really only 3 squares covered in chocolate ganache with minimal design and fresh flowers added(which you can add yourself to save even more) you should be able to easily find someone to replicate it for a reasonable fee(its really beautiful by the way)

  10. I love the 5th one.Beautiful.I think they might be around 450,maybe.I'm getting a 3 tier cake almost the size of the 4th one and its around 400.Fondant cakes are more expensive. If i were to do it with the whipped icing it would be 250.

  11. I like the last 2  - some of the ones that alternate design too much (every layer) look not as clean/ sharp.

You want it to look good up close & at a distance.

  12. i LOVE your selection!!!  i am doing something similar, so i am partial to fun cakes like that.  i think the first 2 are great!

    good choices!

    best of luck! congratulations!

  13. Those are all really nice.  It really depends how many guests she is having because, normally, most bakers can make any kind of cake in any kind of size to feed the number of people you will have.

  14. Honestly, this depends on who you get to make it.  General rule of thumb is that complicated cakes (like cake 2) tend to be more expensive than cakes with more basic decorations.

The cheapest way to do a cake is to find a retired person who decorates cakes as a hobby and ask to see their picture book.  I found a lady that will do my 4-tier cake for 200 people for $250.  We found her through an older guy my fiance works with.  Realize that you will have to sacrifice some of the fancier cake flavors and fillings, as well as some of the more ornate cake designs, but it will save major money in the long run.

  15. I  like the all white one with pink pokla dots on one layer and brown on the next and so on and on. It is actually very classy but very colorful and doesnt look like it should be for a birthday party like the other ones did.

  16. Gee, I like them all, but the first one was really cute, and I liked the square one with the roses down it, I just love roses. Those roses could be real ones or made out of fondant, that would be pretty, too.

Take the pictures around to the bakeries in your area, and get some prices. Ask them if they could duplicate this cake, and how much would it cost. Ask to see cakes they have done before, ask for a sample of cake before you decide. Take delivery costs into account, too. And pick a less expensive bakery.

As with everything else, the less work that goes into the cake, the cheaper it will be.

To get a cheap cake, choose one from the bakery at the grocery. It might no be the quality of a real bakery cake, and you might not be able to get your design duplicated.  Or find a friend or relative who is a professional and will do it cheaper.

And amo 45 is right about one thing, the square one with the roses might be the cheapest design. Square cakes feed more people, are easier to cut, sometimes cost less, and that is a very simple design, less man hours to create it.
