Dwyane Wade was a member of the 2004 USA Olympic team that won the Bronze medal in Athens.

But it is not a cherished possession for the Heat guard.

"I have no idea where that thing is," said Wade. "I don't know. You could probably find it as quick as I could if you came to my house. I remember packing it in my bag, and I don't remember what happened."

  1. he means that he felt disappointed bringing a bronze medal back to the usa and that is not expected from them and that is nothing to brag about

that he wants that gold medal more than anything

  2. Having thought on it, it is kinda funny.  Lol.  "I have no idea where that thing is."  If I got a Bronze medal, I'd feel bad, but I'd also cherish it.  I don't feel the way you do, since I'm a blazers fan.  Wade is awesome though.  Funny....and a bit mean.... to say"I have no idea where that thing is."

A word the MJ(not michael jordan, one of the answerer on this question)-I feel the same way.  Why Carlos Boozer?  He doesn't play much, and doesn't score much.  Amare Stoudamire would have been WAYYYY!!! better.  He would excite US more than Boozer.

  3. hes just saying that to pump the other teams.

  4. He is not satisfied with just winning a bronzes. HE WONT A GOLD. Its not selfish or ignorant it just him wanting the best and to be the best. He knows that USA is capable of winning a gold and he is disgusted by the fact that it has been so many years since we have been in the winner circle.

  5. Hopefully it means he doesn't settle for mediocrity and is driven this year to win the gold with the "Redeem Team"

  6. he either really forgot where he kept it cuz the bronze medals aren't that big or he just didn't care enough since he didn;t walk out with the gold medal, i don't think his comment was rude, to me he was being honest

  7. I watched the video where he said that and I rememeber him also saying that the bronze might have been in one of his bags that didn't make it back home from the olympics that year.

  8. i think he wants gold. but heres a better question, why was carlos boozer selected to play for usa instead of amare stoudemire?

  9. i think wade is smart its not selfis hor arogant but i like it i like th fact that if its not gold you got nothing

  10. wade's expectations were gold and only gold. he's made he fell short. USA looks sweet but the world doesn't suck at basketball

  11. The 04 team really figured if they played the Gold would be handed to them. They have no where near the defensive skills or drive that the previous Olympic teams did. They played the game as if it were an AllStar game. Watching a 96 AS game and then a 07 game it shows the Major drop off of drive and intensity.

This year though they are playing w/ a chip on their shoulder. They have roles and realize they have to sacrifice personal headlines for Ws. Im really eager to see how they respond against a tough team like Greece. I  was not happy about Wade's recent comments though "When I get back with my gold medal, I'm going on an Olympic tour"  I like the confidence just dont like the fact that he has not won Gold yet and gives the opposing team something to tape up on their locker for extra motivation.   Overconfidence breeds carelessness.

=But to answer your question I really do not think his comment about the bronze metal is all that big of a deal. You gotta know he sees that as a major disappointment as did the rest of the US. Who wants to have that reminder around? He should give it away to someone who values it or give it to charity.

    Gold USA Basketball 08

  12. That year was a TERRIBLE year for the U.S basketball team and the Bronze (not being gold) is a testament to that so Imsure he doesn't want to be reminded of the performance

  13. I would imagine that most Olympic athletes try to get the gold and when they don't get it they see anything else as a failure. I understand where Dwyane is coming from.

  14. he's just embarrassed and upset having a bronze medal... its no big deal now... because thy learned their lessons... and they're on their way to the road of redemption...

  15. The Olympics aren't that important to everyone. If basketball wasn't a part of it I wouldn't be watching any of it.
