True or untrue?

Is a girl's best friend really a diamond in a situation like that?

  1. John, I'll tell you my feelings have always been that putting firearms in the hands in the hands of law-abiding citizens is the greatest deterrent to violent crime and to the acquisition of such weapons by criminals on the black market.  It is beyond me why this point is so difficult to get across.  Guns are a tool, just like any other, and when used responsibly save lives or deter violent crime.  Nothing will subdue a violent criminal better than a pistol pointed in his face by someone skilled in the accurate and safe use of a pistol.

I oppose any governmental regulations that limit my ability to obtain and carry weapons for self defense, period.  The two things I enjoy most about our Constitution are Amendments I & II and I don't want any politician interfering with these freedoms.

    In short, True.

  2. It's very in your face.  It looks kinda of like a joke ad, ya know.  A gun would protect you if you knew how to use it, but  the implication that you need it to save yourself from a rapist, its a little propaganda-ish.

  3. It's another way of blaming the victim ... "oh if s/he didn't want to be raped, they should have carried a gun/ learned to defend themselves/ stayed indoors/ worn a burqa".

It's about selling guns and the concept of gun ownership, not about empowering women and not about stopping rapists from raping.

But as an advert for guns it's very smart, the agency must be pleased.

    Cheers :-)

  4. Wouldn't it be better to stop crimes before they start, instead of just shooting the criminals?

  5. actually i think it's a good ad. it doesn't seem jokey to me.

  6. I agree,as u can't use a diamond to protect yourself! makes a solid,'in your face' point.

but how can we stop crime before crime happens Rio?

    got any ideas!?

  7. It's a blatant attempt to play one women's fears of being raped. However, most women are raped by someone they know so unless they carry a gun on them at all times, even at home, they are not going to be protected that way.
