It has been writtne that he was a visitor and bringer of knowledge to the Mayan indians. Other American Natives have stories that are familiar. Mayans went on to celebrate as something god-like. What was he, man, alien, supernatural being?

Quetzalcoatl was a shaman who came from the east in a boat wearing a cape and turban. He was a tall man who had a white beard. He taught the Mayans great wisdom and science that is why they called him the 'plumed serpent'. The reason he was called a 'Serpent' is because he possessed advanced technology and had great wisdom and knowledge of science and astronomy. He taught the Mayans, architecture,wrighting,alchemy and other things Quetzalcoatl forbid sacrifices and gave the Mayans moral laws. From them not becoming ignorant that is what caused their down fall and I honestly believe Quetzalcoatl was in fact the same person as Noah. Noah built an ark and road out the flood, with his family. Quetzocoalt came from the 'EAST' in a boat with his family meeting the Mayans. Their was no Religion being spread it was Spirituality and Insight. Their is many alien concepts of Quetzalcoatl I have theory that he came from the constellation Pleaides as well. Also he could have came from the Atlantis which was in the East and off the shores of West Africa. When Quetzalcoatl returns he will return with other gods I believe they all will be flying in space crafts. They are human in appearance. Aliens are their servants.

his name is written in my book on The Lost Culture Of The Mayan And Aztec. He is a god that watched over these two cultures. My family has a celebration for every Aztec god and goddess. He was the god who brought water to the Aztec and  Maya during a drought. I hope this answers your qeustion.^_^

think about it.... "a serpent with bird like characteristics"

maybe it was a dinosaur still alive. or even just fossilized remains which have been known to show signs of feathers. that could resemble a giant bird serpent and be enough to start a religion.

the Indians of the southwest US built stories of their sky and sea gods off the remains of dinosaur fossils they found in their region, and it is suspect the ancient greeks used remains such as mammoths to produce stories about their ancient creatures (cyclops).
