I first saw this last night- on the Gruen Transfer (great show, that) I thought it was funny, and as thing said- certainly better than the blue liquid ads!

  1. neither, it's just stupid

but then i agree with shamu in that most ads are stupid

  2. I don't know how to have an opinion. I guess it it kind of dumb.

  3. Liberating! I love my beaver...my favorite playmate. Every woman should spend time getting to know her beaver.lol

  4. I don't see what's offensive about that at all.  Are we supposed to be so ashamed of our v****a's that we can't make light humor about them?

This commercial is liberating because it's a breath of fresh air in a sea of uber sensitive media representations of female hygene.  It's like washing a crotch is some big taboo. Get over it already!

  5. If a commercial with a beaver in it makes women more "aware of what's down there", then I think it's a great idea. Do you know how many women can't even describe the different sections down there? A LOT! Let's not forget to mention the millions of women who don't get regular paps done because they don't know how crucial they are at discovering cervical cancer early.

Rock on, beaver. I like the commercial.

  6. I think it's cute! Who could be offended by that. Maybe as a Canadian I'm a little biased when it comes to beavers.

  7. You women find everything offensive

  8. Hey, I almost asked a Q about this the other day!

A bunch of us got into quite a heated conversation about this advert recently ... it's been on tv for a while but some people didn't realise immediately because 'beaver' isn't a term in common use in Australia, or wasn't. The younger ones caught on quicker than us old bats, lol.

Really, the opinion was divided almost half way between offensive and funny.

I think it has elements of both, but that's also a common thing with typical Australian humour, so in that regard the advert makers have done a good job.

Australians seem to like to laugh at offensive stuff, and for that reason the advert works.

On a more practical side ~ it's at least an original way of advertising the product! Hands up anyone else who has got sick of anonymous women pouring blue liquid?

Personally, I can see that the advert does utilise the 'women's body parts by animal names' tradition which is not always good, but on the other hand it treats what has always been a 'taboo' subject with humour and is pretty out there, so I think it gets a 'Yes' vote from me.

    Cheers :-)

  9. Cute. A woman and her beaver should be the closest of friends. LOL.

  10. How cute, a trailer for the new sitcom "Me and My Vag," Tuesdays at 8:00 PM ET/PT on Fox.

  11. Once you have children you always wonder about ads for those products and how you are going to explain them to your children.

  12. Never seen that add before, it's a bit stupid but it's not offensive or liberating. It just means some more pocket change for the corporations.

  13. I didn't find it offensive. The part where both the woman and the beaver get their hair and nails done, and head to the beach. She gives the beaver a present, a feminine hygiene product.

Okay, so how many women have seen their v****a? Using a mirror? This was shown on a episode on "s*x the City" where Charlotte at the very end of the show was using a mirror and examining her v****a.

So if this product helps make women feel better about themselves and provides pleasure, I don't believe this is not a bad thing, is it?

  14. I thought it was funny.  The puppet is cute!

  15. Extremely stupid

  16. I think that this ad is further proof that western society is degenerating. There is nothing wrong with advertising tampons, but this commercial is so lower-class it isn't even funny.

It makes me sick to think of how Americanised this (once) unique country of ours is becoming. Thank f**king god that I don't have to be here much longer.

  17. I was shocked the first time I saw it. I don't think it is offensive but I just don't like it.

  18. Is nice

  19. I think it's funny too. The people who complain are probably the same ones who complained about Janet Jackson's wardrobe incident.

  20. I think it's cute! Beavers are adorable. ;-)

  21. It's neither liberating or offensive to me. Personally, I just find it a bit silly but then again I find most commercials these days a bit silly.

  22. I can see how some women would find it offensive - but I myself was on the floor laughing histerically when I first saw it! I consider myself a feminist but I am not offended by this add. It's very harmless as far as I'm concerned.

  23. I'm Canadian, I don't find that offensive. It's still rather stupid though.

  24. I'm divided. It's a funny ad, but it's using American slang (not like it's the first time), which I don't like. Then again, she could be carrying a cat around.

The funniest thing about it? My sister's reply when we first saw it, "Well one thing we know, she's not a natural redhead".

  25. Neither.  Just funny.
