I thought I'd take a break from asking about bands for the day, haha. Anyway, Rory Gallagher is one of the most unrecognised, underrated [well, I've never seen him mentioned here], best guitarists of all time. He's a blues/hard rock artist from the 70's [mostly].

  1. OMG !! My ALL-TIME Favorite Blues-Rock Guitarist !!

Clapton has Brilliant Technique and is so "smooth" - but He is BORING, compared to RORY !!

Rory bring RAWNESS & GUTSINESS to his Style !!

    Clapton's too Refined. IMO

    Favorites --

"Walk on Hot Coals (Live Version)

Tony Joe White's "As The Crow Flys" played on Dobro & mounted-Harp

    "Tatoo'd Lady"

    "Cradle Rock"

    "Shin Kicker"

    "Shadow Play"

Too Many to List - He IS the Best !!

I've never heard his First 3 albums, but I have everything from --

"Tatoo" thru "Against the Grain" including One of the GREATEST Live Albums, EVER - "IRISH TOUR '74"

I've been meaning to get his earlier and later ones - but those that I have proves He is the Best to Me !!

  2. The Taste!

Wow! They never seem to get mentioned.

I don't know much, but I know 'What's Going On', and love it :)

I also have 'Sinner Boy', live at the Isle of Wight in 1970.

I really liked 'Who's That Coming', and the certainly the music to 'Tatoo'd Lady'...

You're going to have me spending money again...!

  3. I've heard of him but never really took the time to listen to his music. I'm glad though that I did now. He's awesome! Who's That Coming was great. I must get an album of his. :)

  4. Awesome! I have actually never heard of him before. He's such a great guitarist, how is he not more famous?? Tatoo'd Lady was my favorite out of the three. Thanks for sharing, I'll definitely look for one of his albums next time I'm at a record shop.

  5. He sounds familiar, I don't know if I've heard of him before. But, thanks for posting that. Yep, he's great!

  6. I've never heard of him. I'm so glad I have now. Thanks!

  7. I only have his Live album "Stage Struck" and it's great.

I've seen him talked about in R&P only a couple of times.

Rory was definitely a good guitarist!

There are so many other great guitarists that rarely get talked about in R&P like Alvin Lee, Robin Trower, Pat Travers, Jeff Healey, Rick Derringer, Mick Ronson, Ronnie Montrose, Frank Marino, I could go on and on.
