If a man says "I'm the man" he is asserting his legitimate right for power.

If a woman says "I'm the woman" she is asserting power she has no right to.

  1. Unfortunately for some it's true.

  2. Both phrases mean:

    1) an individual has beat their competitors.

    2) an individual believes they are better than everybody else without proving their beliefs.

Man and woman are assigned depending on the gender of the individual. Note- I have never heard a woman say "I'm the woman."

  3. I've never heard a woman say "I'm the woman," and I wouldn't take it like that.  I'm not sure where you're coming with this to be honest.

  4. Absolutely nothing is what I think of this double standard. Please find a man who loves to be ruled and please be done with it.

  5. For some it's true.

With a bit of common sense being the woman means being the principal therefore the dominant one.

  6. I believe you are making something out of nothing.

  7. I have never heard a woman say "I'm the woman".  I think you are incorrect and your own man-hating agenda is speaking more than what is accepted by society.  Most would probably enjoy the twist on the old saying.  Kind of like "Grow some ovaries."

  8. That's a double standard I'm NOT aware of.

From what I've seen, a man who says "I'm the man" is considered an arrogant, egotistical pig and a woman who says "I'm the woman" is EMPOWERED and independent.

I guess it depends on who you ask.

  9. YOU assume she has no right to assert that power when, in fact, neither s*x has a right to assert ANY power based solely upon their s*x.

  10. condy rice

    hillary clinton

    oprah winfrey

women officers and command seargent majors in the military

Benazir Bhutto  former prime minister of pakistan

    women in Hollywood....

I can go on and on

  11. To be honest with you, in my opinion. If we all did what role best fits us and role we feel comfortable in. Then there would be no double standards to care about.

  12. My husband always says..."Cuz I'm the man" and stupid c**p like that but if I say..."Cuz I'm the woman" he's like "Baby you can't say that. It doesn't make sense" makes me wanna slap him so darn hard right upside the face.

Although I do wear the friggin pants in our marriage (someone has to while he's getting his education), have 3 jobs to support us, and deal with his bs on a daily basis I still think that you are pretty much making something out of nothing.

I have every right to the power I possess because I worked hard to achieve it. I have just as much right to say it as anyone. I don't think it's a gender issue at all.

  13. I never heard a woman say "I'm the woman" and if I did I'd never assume she was "asserting power she has no right to".  I don't know anyone (male or female) who would assume as such.

  14. In the Western developed nations of the world, a lot of women see men's claim to power as a joke. Women in the West can say whatever they want without having to fear negative repercussions from men. If you don't consider a man's claim to power to be legitimate, then just laugh it off.

  15. When I make a really good meal or take my kids bike riding they always say "Mom, your the man!". LOL. I think its cute.

  16. Okay, here's what I think.  When the man declares that he's the man with or without an article, he's speaking a truth.

When a woman declares that she's a woman with or without an article, she's speaking a truth.

When either party asserts something to the contrary, someone is asserting a falsehood.

  17. Really?

I thought when a man says "I'm the man" he is a sexist, misogynistic, dominating, wife beating pig.

And when a woman says "I'm the woman" she is a strong, intelligent, confident, goal oriented, liberated woman.

I guess it's all a matter of perception isn't it?

  18. If I say "I'm the woman" I am usually joking around and I assume the same about guys.  I don't see any double standard.  I don't think we should pick the subject to death, looking for innuendo that is not really there.

  19. it's sad that this is true in some peoples minds. Even in some women's mind. If I think a woman is more qualfied or superior to me in many ways I have no problem with her being the boss. Allot of times they don't believe me in this and throw me attitude which is strange.

  20. I was under the impression, regarding your assertion, that I see/hear/read dumb people.

  21. Ive never heard a chick say Im the women

  22. The woman simply assumes that everyone else thinks she has no right to assert power cause she likes to be a victim. It gets people to pay attention to her and she ultimately gets what she wants, without ever having to assert any power. She's very smart, and very conniving. The fault of a double standard lies with the woman.
