What do you think of this for my sisters cake for her graduation party?

i want to make some kind of a stand for pictures for the top of her cake. i want to put about 6 different pictures of her from the time she was a baby till present using one of her graduation pictures as a center photo and the largest of them all...

i'm only getting a 1/2 sheet

Personally, being in the cake industry myself, I never liked the idea of putting faces on cakes that were going to be sliced up...seemed wrong to me! How about getting some small (mini) photo frames and putting her photos on top of the cake along with some graduation decorations...then she has the photos after in frames already to keep!

Why not skip putting the pictures on/near the cake and put them on a table as guests come in and have the guest book there as well.  For my sisters grad party we are putting pictures of her through the years on a table where we will also have a photo mat that the guests can sign... the mat will go in a frame that holds her graduation picture.  For cake we are doing a cupckae tower and the cupcakes are being iced in the colors of the party.  If you do it this way you don't have to worry about the frames getting icing all over them or being in the way when you are cutting the cake.

Many bakeries can now reproduce a photo onto sugar or fondant and put that onto cakes.   You might have them put the photos onto some cupcakes and put the photo cupcakes onto a cupcake tree stand (available at craft stores, and I saw one at Kroger's)...and the big photo on the regular cake .... or they could perhaps do a collage of the photos right onto the big cake......   You might even be able to get the photos put onto balloons, that you could tie to the corners of the table!...and I know you can get coasters with photos on them...
