He is a 4 year old TB gelding, that i was thinking about buying so that I could compete in jumping and 3 day eventing. He is already under-saddle and stuff and he is 6000 dollars. His name is "Tiger Jewel" Also what do you think of his movement? I think its pretty but i would like your guys opinion. Here is his Sale ad (the pictures don't do him justice)

  1. Honestly, I love his trot. It is VERY beautiful - and he appears to be well-built. However, I dislike his canter. It seems very short, choppy, and over-all, not something I was expecting for him. I don't know if that's because he was just playing, but I don't think he has a pretty canter :(

But if your up for the challange, go for it! I think he'd be a great jumper, and eventer.

  2. wow, he's really beautiful! but the question is if you can handle all that work but I think if you decide to go for it...once trained, he'll be a great horse!

  3. He looks like a really nice horse. I would try to see if you could get them down to $4500, since the horse market is poor. He'll need a lot of training, but could be worth it.

  4. I think that horse is a dream horse even if he is a greenie. Boy howdy, if you feel up to handling a green horse...get this one while he's still cheap cause I garantee that the more training they put into him, the more the price is going to go up.

I cannot wait to see if you really get this guy...he's amazing.

  5. Looks like a beautiful horse, would mak a either a good jumper or look fancy in the dressage ring. Whatever you choose to put him in GET HIM! He is beautiful but might need some training...

  6. FINALLY!

someone is asking about a horse to buy who's actually worth buying.  He is VERY handsome, very fancy dressage movement

I personally won't buy a young horse over $5000, but that's just me.  If you have the money go for a trial ride, and hopefully take him on a two week trial to make sure everythings good at your place.

He looks like a very foreward horse, so be prepared for that.. and they say he doesn't have much experience (green as grass according to them) so be prepared for some weird moments and spooks.. but if you have a trainer to work with, he could easily be your eventer [=

Also, about jumping.  5 is usually good for TB's, but the only sure was is to get x-rays of their knees to see if they are fully developed.

  7. He's a beautiful horse with amazing natural carriage and movement.

However, he has very little training.  I think he has a ton of POTENTIAL, but it's going to take a lot to get him there.  If you can do that yourself, great, but otherwise you might be making quite an investment into professional training.  He is barely even trained to canter at this point, and it sounds like he is awfully spooky.  I think he would be a major handful.

For the lack of training, I think $6000 is WAY too much.  They are basing the price on his potential, not on what he is actually currently capable of doing.  If you can talk them down, it might be worth it, but I don't really think they'll drop the price enough to make it a good deal, personally.  For that kind of money you can get a very well trained horse, even maybe with some titles under his belt, if you just keep looking.

  8. The one and ONLY thing I would question is his neck looks a bit short, I would see with those long legs if he can pick grass with out spreading the front legs out.  Other wise just beautiful, wonderful stride, seems sweet, healthy and should work well with proper training for jumping, but I do believe it's about 7 to start jumping, you want them to grow with out doing damage to the legs, joints, knees, and so on.

And not a bad price.  I worry about the neck, due to possible leg problems if he has to spread them to eat grass:)  Best of luck

  9. He is very pretty in all but his canter is choppy and kind a slow. Also it sounds like he needs a lot more training because it sais he's 'Green as grass'. Also I personally think he would be better at dressage then jumping.

  10. One of the nicest young green TB's that I've seen! I'd go for it if you have the time to work on the little greeness issues.

  11. YESSSSSS!

    youd be crazy not too

  12. I just have one word to say; WOW!

  13. wow hes gorgeous, go for it :) xx

  14. I love her. I think she is very beautiful and you should buy her! Go for it! I sure want her! How much? Lol!

  15. He is absolutely gorgeous and quite gracefull.  I would say...yes!

  16. I think she is beautiful go for it.

  17. Omg ud be stupid not to~!!!! shes sounds perfect for you!!!!!!!! she would make a great jumper!! good luck!!!!!

  18. He looks like a great horse but i think he still needs a lot of work and for 6000 you could buy a better horse that has more hours under saddle and would already be trained for jumping. but good luck hope you find a great horse

  19. By the sounds of it, he needs ALOT of work, he needs to experience alot of things. He is quite pretty, looks like he would be greatly suited to dressage, does he have any jumpers in his bloodlines?

You need to consider the time it will take to introduce him into jumping and eventing and his ablilty to do so. I didn't watch the video sorry as I don't have broadband.

    Hope this helps :)

  20. He's stunning and that's a pretty good pirce.

A horse can be lightly started over crossrails and such at five, but you should wait untill six to do heavy jumping. Better safe than sorry.

  21. Well, he certainly is a beautiful horse. There is no denying that. And he certainly does have marvelous movement. There is no denying that either. There is also no denying that the author of that sales pitch is a first class salesman who very skillfully folded in the bitter facts amidst an artfully hyped presentation, those bitter facts being that the horse is "just starting in serious training" and that the horse "is just beginning to get his confidence in his daily handling." The translation of that is that it is an untrained and inexperienced horse, also known as a green horse, in their own words as "green as grass," and $6000 is one heck of a high price to pay for a "green horse" who will require at least a 1000 plus hours of training to produce a finished horse for the show arena. But I don't doubt for an instant that they will get that $6000 because there is a fool born every minute and a fool and his or her money is soon parted!

  22. He seems to move quite nicely. Of course he won't move like he did in his video under saddle becaue he was a liberty. I also think he is alot of horse if you know what I mean. I think he would be a fenomenal dressage horse. I don't know about jumping and all that as I don not have experience with jumping. But I really think he would be beautiful in dressage wtih his lengthy trot and good impulsion. He will still ahve alot to learn so I hope you have alot of experience because I have worked with green horses and they need confident riders. He is a very nice looking horse

  23. if you have the money why not. That's a beatiful horse.

  24. if you dont buy him i might fly out there and buy him HURRY! he's very nice
