  1. Sure that's your student.............FAKE

    Payback's a *****

    :o)

Which one was your student?  Blue & White Shorts or the other guy?

EDIT:  Apology accepted.  I never saw it before, and I did look for it.  Anyway, congrats on your students win!

  2. I definitely think Michael's standup needs some work.  I didn't see any kicks and his punches were kind of wild loopy hooks.  His shot was just "head down bull-rush", so I'm glad the other kid didn't have a sprawl worth a c**p - but your guy still ended up on the bottom... Michael needs to shoot with the elbows in more - drop his body from the legs instead of bending over.  Go forward protected - not just drop his head and charge.  Plus he really telegraphed it...

I'm just mentioning the bad - the good - your guy has good hips / submission.  He knew to throw his hips up and try for the triangle when he was on the bottom.  He defended pretty well and didn't take damage on the bottom.  And he kept moving, spinning, etc. to get open for the sub attempt.  The most impressive is that he didn't turtle up and look away - he watched each punch coming in so he could roll with it.  Sweet.

Good thing your guy is listening to his corner - I like the submission at the end - I couldn't tell, but it looked like once they rolled he really sunk that triangle in. Michael could still have done more - with high guard like that he could elbow from the bottom and crack the other guy's forehead (not sure if elbows are OK in this competition).  The other guy really left his face open when he was on top.

All in all a decent performance from a young guy.  I hope with some good coaching he'll do well.

  3. looked good, he should keep it up.

  4. That one worked...

    Was that the first round?

I thought he did well once on the ground. I think that his shoot was a little mistimed though as there was quite a bit of distance between him and the other guy.

I also caught him listening to the corner which is fantastic, and really what can make or break a fight as the people watching can see better options and cautionary points.

I've always found it quite fascinating how fast fights can go when the fighter listens to what his corner is telling him.

Good luck in the future for this guy.
