I want to name my daughter

Millicent Elizabeth Spencer

but a lot of people think that Millicent is a very old fashioned name. However, I LOVE the nickname Millie. Should I just call her Millie Elizabeth or keep Millicent?

Any input is great!

Thanks :)

  1. Id call her Millie, when she goes to school, people would probably bully her for Millicent.

But Millicent is a good name, its up to you really :]

  2. I have to agree with the others. It's very old fashioned. By the time she reaches school she's definitely be teased.

  3. i like MIllicent too! i think its addorable!  nd millie is even more cute:] keep millcent but use it wen ur mad at her or on like occasions nd cards but call her millie :]   congrats on having a baby!

  4. i do love the name millie

you could call her millicent but i don't think it would ever get used as she would always be referred to a s millie

  5. youre right about the millicent, and i actually love the nickname millie too. and elizabeth is a relle nice name also. but you could just name her millie. i mean, i wouldnt relle want my name to be milicint...lol... but millie is a cute name.

    mazal tov! Lol

  6. I think you should put Elizabeth first, Elizabeth Millicent Spencer. That way, you could still call her Millie, but her first name wouldn't give that old lady impression. Good luck :-)

  7. If you like the name Millicent then go for it. Millie is a cute nickname, but i like the middle name.

  8. I like the name Millicent, but my friend's cat's name is Millie.

You can look up the meaning of the name on websites like babynames.com and see different spellings.

  9. The older style names are coming back. I would keep Millicent so when she is older she can use it. Millie is cute for a little girl but not a 25 yr old!

  10. I would call her Millstone Elizabeth Spencer.  When you get her first college tuition bill, you'll understand what I'm talking about.

  11. She'll never be able to find a Snoopy license plate for her bike.  I just don't care for it.  It's bringing pictures of a pointy nosed mean school teacher to my mind.  Ugh.  Try again, perhaps?  I love the last name Spencer, if that's any consolation.  Best wishes to you and your baby.

    Congratz!

  12. i think both are great. and anyway its your own opinion that counts not others. call her what you think is best. good luck with it.

  13. when you say millicent, i think of the evil ***** from sleeping beauty.

mildred would also work with millie, but please examine your options a bit further -

one day millie is going to want to grow up and in a business relationship, the name millicent kinda sucks. a lot. from my point of view anyway.

  14. Oh. That's a wonderful name. And even if she had the name Millicent, she would usually be referred to as Millie. It's your choice though. Millicent is a very different name, and I love it. Your choice of course.

But you have to remember it's something she has to live with her whole life.

    Hope I helped.

  15. I've never heard of the name Millicent. It's definitely different, but I don't really like it much. Some family members called me 'Millie' when I was younger. I didn't like that name either. I would pick another name. I like Elizabeth though.

  16. i would stick with the name millie, millicent just sounds old and boring, she might get made fun of, but millie is not common and its really pretty:)

    Hope that Helps

    ♥ Bella ♥

  17. hate the name Millicent. Millie is cute - you could just name her Millie.

my baby names book says Millie is a nickname for Amelia, Camille, Emily, Camilia, Kamila, Melissa, Millicent, and Mildred (equally bad as Millicent)

i like Emily as a first name and Millie as a nickname. you could spelle it Emillie. i think it looks cool like that

  18. I sure beats some names out there!

  19. Millie Elizabeth is lovely...

im not sure of millicent.... even on an adult im not sure

  20. I think it is a pretty name. I'm 13 and I think it is a cute name and when she gets older maybe you could call her Millie. Or I think Elizabeth Millicent Spencer sounds cute!

  21. I like millie

    Millicent does sound old fashioned

    but I like it

If I were you I would call her Millicent

    but encourage the name millie

    hope I helped

    :)

  22. Why don't you just name her Millie Elizabeth Spencer? It's your decision though. I'm always for unique &uncommon names.

  23. honestly i think Millicent is kinda weird, and Elizabeth is such a common name.. I'm not the biggest fan. Also Millie reminds me of that Lil Wayne song haha

  24. I really really really like the name Millicent..I'm glad some one finally agrees with me that, that is a cool name. I really like older names and Millicent Elizabeth sounds very cool to me.

  25. Personally Millicent makes me think of an old lady that smells funny. Millie is really cute tho. If I were you, I would just legally name her Millie!

  26. i would name her millie instead of millicent because millicent is old fashioned and not a name used regularly

  27. MILLIE!

    Millie is really cute!

Not sure about millicent....if i was a child i'd prefer Millie! For her sake, call her Millie Elizabeth Spencer :)

    Goodluck!!

  28. I would just call her Millie Elizabeth, it's cute and simple. Millicent is very old fashion and if your going to be calling her Millie all the time then what's the point.

(Amelia would also work for the nickname Millie.)

  29. Eskimo is considered derogatory now, just so you know. I like your name a lot!

  30. I love it!!  who cares if Millicent sounds old fashioned?  I think you should use it regardless even if you do call her Millie all the time anyway.  it'll be nice to have a more formal (and more grown-up sounding) name on things like college applications and work resumes.

  31. i think i like millicent better that millie. im not sure though. their both nice. i think i have a great aunt named millie. but i dont know if the middle name elizabeth fits with such an unoridnary name...
