What do you think of this name for a brown baby?!?

this girl i know named her biracial (black and white) daughter Carmella.

I hate it!! But i also really don't like her so i dont know if im just being hateful :)

Im Biracial too - I think I would have hated to be called Carmella, brownie, oreo... etc...

Am i just in a hateful mood?

Colour doesnt matter, its about the name itself, i dont think your being hateful, i just think your thinking too much

I guess you are drawing the paralell between carmella and caramel.  It is not a bad name.  I took me a minute to even understand your issue... although the oreo reference helped.  Relax, it is a nice name and not an obvious reference to her color.  Not at all along the lines of brownie or oreo which sound like great names for a puppy.

Hmm... Sorry to say, but I think your hormones may be getting the best of you. Carmella IS a legitimate name, and a very pretty one at that. I sincerely doubt this girl gave her daughter a name she purposefully thought would be racially offensive - though I honestly don't think it is. Sure, it's a Hispanic (Italian, too) name, and yes, it does sound a bit like "caramel," but what has that got to do with anything? Latinas, who have actual caramel-toned skin, use it all the time and aren't offended by it... Why should a biracial person be?

Reminds me of Carmella Soprano, not a bad name and sure the story behind it sucks but hey why not? The name has a bit of history so it's not out of nowhere. I like it!

i can kind of see where you are coming from.  I'm also biracial i would hate for someone 2 call me oreo or brownie.   or even carmella.  i get enough of people asking what my race is anyway or if i'm mixed.

Wouldn't be my first pick but it's not awful. Better than Britney or another Madison. I personally think Angela is a beautiful name for biracial girls, my biracial niece is a Haley. It suits her.

It depends. Did she name her baby Carmella for the name (because she liked it and did not realize the double meaning) or because it is a biracial baby?  If the former, then I think it's alright, but if the latter, then that's terrible.
