Children Of The World

We are the children of the world

Mother nature's natural pearl

We are neither a slave nor at play

We are kids in every way

The sun is our gracious friend

In the dire night we must defend

From broken bones and cuts on wrists

Dripping tears in an enclosed mist

We, the future of our generation

Our life deserves more than media attention

Everyday our bodies grow more lifeless

Yet we still stand strong, we're not yet helpless

Our heart hopes for better days

Yearning that day is today

Waiting in sharp shackles we are chained

Every night and day, we endure this pain

Our weeping minds grow more dreary

Our weakened bones grow more weary

Has no one heard our pleading call

Is there no one out there to help at all...

  1. I really like this poem! It had a good rythym, really good metaphors, and you put images in my mind. This poem is in my tastes so i say its good. Not really much suggestions that i can give here other than my interpretaion. However, what did you mean when you said that the "children" are not slaves, yet in the other stanza you say that "in sharp shackles we are chained? Who knows, it was propably just my  misinterpretation of the whole poem, anyways, i thought it was really good. Hope to see more of these pieces!
