What do you think of this program for Illegal's

Add reads wanted Illegals with clean records to return home. No jail, no joke. The government is calling it the federal self-deportation program,it also mentions you will have 90 days to get your affairs in order. Does the government really think someone with a criminal record would turn their selves in, or to go back from a place they just fled from? Any thoughts or comments.

Another job Americans want Illegals to do, and then they'll blame them for being out of work to. It's called "Operation do this job so we don't have to hire any more ICE agents". Funny that Phoenix, AZ only had ONE person turn himself in. I wonder how many man hours we as tax payers had to pay ICE agents to sit around and wait for that ONE person to turn himself in?

This is a good idea and the illegals that are here should take advantage of it. Now if they get caught by the authorities these illegals could never come back to the country and they will not have the chance to get organized and will lose everything they have earn. It seems like another gov't pipe dream, to me.  If they are criminals, why would they be honest?  They live better over here then they do in Mexico...I doubt they are just going to just turn themselves in.  That is, unless they are guilty of a haneous crime (murder, rape...etc...).  What do you do with them, then?  Let them go with no justice so they can comeback and do it again, or use our tax money to send them through court?  If we aren't going to stop them from coming over in the first place...there has to be another way to provide them with a simplistic way to become legal and actually contribute to society.

By itself, it's not too impressive.  However I see a second stage to this. Each of the people targeted have already received "final removal orders" - they've been told to leave the country.

ICE has 100+ fugitive teams - once this free-by time is up, they're going to come after these folks w/ a vengeance.  And if you've been told to leave but don't, and the ICE team finds you, everyone with is will be checked too.  

I find it an odd coincidence that eveyone who volunteers for this needs to be gone before the election.

The person who came up with that idea and the person who okayed it should both be fired. The cost of advertising that ad is another example of wasteful spending by the government. As you can see, this ad is further evidence of the corruption that is so prevalent within our society.

It probabbly does reduce illegal immigrant.  Free ride home.   Some illegal immigrants are leaving due to our economy.

i asked this question last week you should read the responses i got, it seems like the responders thought i made this up or that is was something i was proposing. it has only been in effect for 3 days so we have to wait at least a month to see how many takers they got.

I don't think it will work. The illegals don't care about getting caught,they have it in their minds that they can simply return and continue to disregard our laws. The only thing that's going to work is to enforce our laws,hand out strict punishments,mass deportations and a tightly guarded border.

Other countries have led similar programs and succeeded in getting the mass amount of Illegal immigrants out. The United Arab Emirates did something similar in the 90's and received an overwhelming response. Many people do want to go home and sometimes don't have the means to. It's not all about Mexico. There are other illegals here.  The US should be more stern about the program and instituting it in the entire country and not just parts. It has to be publicized properly. There has to be a consequence to people not following the law, otherwise why should the other law abiding people continue to.

I think if the US makes it clear that they are not playing games anymore, they will have people turn themselves in.

As for any illegals who have crossed the boarders and risked their lives, there's no turning around for them to make it right quoting to your caption questions above.

One has to come from a third world country and be a dirt poor to understand the illegal immigrants.

Implementing this silly program makes about as much sense as a belief in Santa Claus or an "Honor System".

Buy a supermarket, hire no cashiers, and tell the customers that they will be "on their honor" to put the correct amount of money in the till. How long will you be in business without oversight?

No regulatory program can be successful without effective oversight and enforcement.

The old saying, "Never volunteer for anything"is known in the Latino community.................
