What do you think of this "kaffiyeh" trend?

As a supporter of a Free Palestine, it irks me to see ignorant fashionista hipsters wearing this scarf. I own one as well, and wear it solely to show my solidarity with the Palestinian people and my opposition to Israel.

Ah, I see, you only wear a kaffiyeh "to show your solidarity with the Palestinian people," but all those other people are just "ignorant fashionista hipsters."  No doubt some of them are, although I have to admit that I haven't really noticed a lot of people wearing anything that could be termed a "kaffiyeh," either on the street, in magazines, or on TV.

Oh, and by the way, to the person who mentioned Rachel Ray:  she was not wearing a kaffiyeh, unless they've started making them in a paisley print now.

People have been co-opting political movements for fashion for as long as people have given a c**p about either.  

That is just the way it is, unfortunately.
