  1. the lad came from behind him and damaged his cheek bone

However it was a France player who attacked him

    b*****d

hes out for the first 2 games but fine for the french match

  2. Some dirty b.....d threw a punch at him. Don't give me all this c**p about it being a man's game the guy should be hanged. BOD is God lest we forget.

  3. Your all wrong. Course it was on purpose! they saw their chance to take out one of our star players.

  4. Just bad luck!

It won't have any affect on the world cup.

I support Ireland but I think they don't have a real chance in the WC - QF would be a success. They blew it this year in the 6 nations, I think they will never win a grand slam! I think the Leicester win over Munster, last game at Thormond Park, signifies the demise of Irish rugby, the pinnacle was Munster winning Heineken Cup (I thought it would be Grand Slam). Only chance is waiting for a new generation that could be better than this team.

My opinion. But would love if guys (incl. BOD, great player but a bit too nervous, D'Arcy is in better form lately) would prove me wrong and win the world cup.

    Slainte!

  5. NZ & France are running scared of Ireland so they paid someone to hit him hard.

  6. sabatoge !!!! they always go for the best player on the team..sure wasnt he spear tackled into the ground by some NZ thug as well last year?!

  7. Rugby is a tough game and expect the unexpected it happened to Andy Dalton he got punched in a scrum in South Africa, **** happens.  Expect Brian O'Driscoll to cry about this for years and I mean literally years to come. Its all a conspiracy everyone hates me because I'm the best in the World, get over it and pull your head in you arrogant sissy.

  8. Nothing.  Stuff happens in Rugby... always has, always will.  If it was anyone on the Irish team other than him, this thread probably wouldn't even be here.

  9. He got smacked in the face. Fractured sinus.

As for the NZ thug that "tackled him into the ground" that was the All Black captain at the time - Tana Umanga - not really a thug, probably one of the most respected captains ever to grace international rugby. The way BOD handled his injury in New Zealand was pretty disappointing - It's just not cricket to complain, and  whine about an injury when you come to NZ on a Brit Lions tour. You come to NZ to play some rugby and you're going to feel the tackles. Sure BOD has twinkle toes but he's a fraction of the man Tana is in terms of physical presence, he was always going to be on the wrong end of a tackle.

I just can't help thinking Its a Karma loop for Mr O'Driscoll!

He should be right as rain for the quarter final against NZ, and I hate to say it but . . .  you can be sure his sinus issues won't go unchecked.

  10. I thought it was pretty stupid of the Irish to schedule a match against a French club side, even before they took the field this sort of thing was bound to happen.

Everyone knows that the French are a notoriously dirty bunch; Ireland are in Pool D along with France, so of course they were going to target BOD for some "special" treatment.

  11. it was a dirty match, some of the Irish were rough as well, hope he will be OK for the second game

  12. As a rugby player myself I think it was a little 'unlucky' but only to be expected when an international team plays a French club side. Now I'm not saying that they are dirty players in France but whenever I have played against a French team I usually expect to be punched, gouged or fish-hooked at least  three to four times a match or else I am not doing my job right.  It is common place in club rugby and O'Driscoll as Ireland's Captain and inspiration was always going to come in for some extra attention....especially as they are in the same World Cup group as France. If you want to blame anyone blame the Irish management or Union for arranging the game.....it was an accident waiting to happpen and they were lucky that they got away without any more serious injuries.  It's only news because of who O'Driscoll is and was probably nothing compared to the pounding that the guys in the pack receieved....or gave. He'll only miss one game...and I don't think anyone in Ireland is quaking in their boots at playing Namibia anyway !!

  13. this is not the first time a player has been targeted

take the last 2 lions tours both ROG (by mccrae 2001) and BOD (by umaga and Mealamu 2005) were taken out of the game

its a sad fact that shames rugby

  14. he was punched by a guy that didnt like the way that he told him to go forth & multiply.

  15. the guy above me is very very wrong.. i am in school in ireland and our schools teams are top quality and i think that teh next generation of irish players will nearly match if not better the irish team now. as for bod, who cares?? hes missing the namibia game for christs sake! its nothing!

  16. Rugby is a physical sport and you can go back through games at all levels and find examples of players getting violent.  The authorities seem to be handling it in an appropriate manner.

BOD may be GOD  to some of his fans, but he's just as likely to get punched as anyone else.  He knows that and has to deal with it.
