My husband is thinking about going EOD. I am just wondering what you think of it. Do they deploy a lot? Where are you stationed? Do you like it there?

  1. My dad was an EOD tech until he retired and continues to earn an amazing living as a civilian doing it for companies like UXB and HFA. Yes, they do get deployed alot as there aren't many of them compared to the amount of clean up jobs actually required.  Contrary to the above statement you could end up in places like Oklahoma, Alabama etc. If there's a live impact area there are EOD techs. It is a very difficult program. I honestly wouldn't even start planning for places or the life until he graduates core.

  2. Yes they deploy a lot.  Where do you think they need EOD's?  Not in the middle of Los Angeles.  If he learns his job well he should be fine.  It is a skill and if he doesn't pay attention to his training and the people he works with he will be in trouble, but if he sucks they will kick him out of the program.  Needs of the military will dictate where he will be stationed, basically anywhere in the world.
