  1. I think its disgusting. Thats why I am a raw vegan. I only eat food in its natural, unprocessed state. What kcpaull said is reasonable, but not necessarily true. We don't need to turn to science yet. If humans stopped destroying the earth, and started living in harmony with it, then all these worries would vanish. We need to get our heads out of the material world, and start paying attention to what nature is telling us. Don't you think that if we needed this, we would have already had it? Nature is already prepared, were running out of water, so its getting hotter, melting the glaciers, giving us more water. When a woman is pregnant, her breast fill with milk, so when the baby is born, there is already food. People are making it harder for themselves. Nature is are teacher. Companies make "food" like this because it sells, and it sells because not many know any better. So spread the word, I hope this helped.  :]

  3. Well, I can look at everyone's point of view and agree. Man is trying to further his ability to survive for as long as possible. This will reach a limit eventually and we will not be able to feed, clothe, house, or provide basic care for out children in the future (though there is some of that right now). I have no problem with "engineered" food. The Earth only has X amount of years anyways. Mind you, it has a long span of time to go, it will all end up being destroyed when our sun goes out, when a comet hits it sending it out of orbit, or when we (or presumable some other species) destroys it. If we end up killing off all the resources so be it. Some animal will outlive us and rule over our kingdoms when we're gone.

  4. Throughout the history of agriculture, mankind has fought a never ending battle with trying to grow enough food to feed the population.  As his knowledge of agriculture grew, he started cross breeding various types of plants to get varieties that were resistant to disease and more productive.  But as the population of the world grows, even those specially bred varieties are enough to feed them all.  So now, he has turned to science to help him create varieties that will yeild even larger crops that are resistant to even more diseases.  If we can reduce suffering of starving people by engineering new and better species of plants, why shouldn't we?  Does it really taste any differently?

  5. Why does adding one gene make something "fake"? How can you call it "totally engineered" because of this? Nature still did most of the engineering, man helped it along quite a bit through traditional breeding, and only a very very tiny bit is added through genetic engineering.

Here's something you may not know about the gene that's commonly added to corn: it encodes a pesticide that's been used by ORGANIC farmers for decades. AND, it ends up only being present in stalks and roots - So you'll actually probably ingest more of this particular harmless substance if you buy organic corn (or tomoatoes) than if you eat the "frankenfood" you're so scared of.

Don't be so closed-minded - if you really want to know what's in your food, maybe you should make an effort to find out.
