A Catholic school in Kansas with a substantial Hispanic population wants its students to speak English only. The school had to deal with serious discipline problems. Requiring everyone to use the same language helped alleviate disruptions.

In federal court this week open borders are arguing that the English-only rule violated the Hispanic students’ civil rights. Yes, they’ve gone and made a federal case out of it– and they are demanding “court and attorney costs and unspecified damages for discrimination and emotional suffering:”http://www2.ljworld.com/news/2008/aug/12/trial_begin_englishonly_case/

  1. Do the reconquistas actually expect more benefits and funds from Mexico City then they now get from Washington DC? They better be careful what they wish for. Reconquista Southwest would be poor and third world like just old Mexico. How do they think they would be better off? It is a private school. The parents and the student agree to the school’s policies when the child is enrolled. If the school says English only, its English only. These families need to assimilate. The school does not have to accommodate. Families like these should quit balkanizing the United States in the name of diversity. If The parents and the students want to speak Spanish at school, there are many schools in Latin America. I hear its a wonderfully diverse culture south of the border.I think the ironic thing here is that the Catholic Church is getting burned given their position on illegal immigration. Granted the Catholic Church is huge so the congregation in LA probably has nothing to do with that in Wichita.

I also find it ironic that the hispanic kids are probably getting a free ride to this Catholic school. I doubt they are paying full tuition. Yet look at how they repay this kindness.

  2. WHO CARES! I hate catholics... HAIL MARY

Don't you worry hunny.... I hate all of you religious idiots the same.

  3. As you sow so shall you reap

From the Bible, Galatians VI (King James Version)

    Meaning

Your deeds, good or bad, will repay you in kind.

In this case: bad deeds being repaid in kind!

    From the 10 commandments

10.Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's goods.

What would Jesus say about someone who aids and abets someone to break the 10th commandment?

  4. you want to live in America...you speak english...you want to live in France...you learn French...you want to live in germany you learn German...etc...etc...if the immigrants come into our country...they should follow OUR rules and NOT make their own..same with the Muslims and any other religious sect...changing our holidays to match with theirs is bullsh!!!t..they dont like it then they can go back to where they came from...can you immagine Americans going to other country's and demanding that country have the 4th of July or labor day or marton luther king day...give me a break...

  5. It's a private school. It's not funded with taxpayer money. They can have an English only rule if they want to.

  6. Anybody can file a lawsuit, even a frivolous one. It doesn't mean that they will win.

That attorney is probably an ambulance chaser who would file a discrimination lawsuit if the same students were at a Spanish immersion school because the clients were denied basic English skills which are necessary for two out of three countries in North America.

  7. It makes sense

  8. Oh my!

I wonder if we could do this in other countries. United States is the ONLY country that I know that people cry over little things. I don't see other countires protesting when they have to study English as a second language, at the contrary, they embrase it.

I think all people residing in the United States should at least learn the native language, then have a choice of a second language. As far as I know this is the United States of America, not the United States of Latin America, come on people...

  9. I am Catholic and I think this is another case of Political Correctness at it's worst!. I have also worked in a Multilingual school where most of the Children spoke Punjabi or Arabic and English was not their first Language. I do know some of the problems this can cause in hindering Education and advancement of education for the Children in their Education and Communication difficulties for the teachers. So I do know from experience.

Edit;To the above poster don't worry honey we are used to ignorant people hating us!.

Edit ''Don't you worry hunny.... I hate all of you religious idiots the same.''

The shallowness of the mind that is full of hate is very sad, hopefully you will one day be enlightened honey out of your ignorance and hate!.
