Lolita is an orca whale who was captured from Puget sound 38 years ago. She has lived in a tank at the miami aquarium that is smaller then the legal size. People have tried to get her released back into her native water's for about 13 years. There is no doubt she she will make it in her natural environment, although her trainer's think she won't because of 38 years of had feeding. Scientist have been successful at finding her family, and can even be successful at reuniting her with them. Do you think she should be put back in puget sound? Yes or no. And why or why not.

  1. I think she needs to go back to the wild

  2. I think she should be returned.

I think the first thing to do would be to open a communication link between Lolita and her pod.  After all these years in solitary, we might at least let her communicate that she's alive and well and will be coming home before we just suddenly drop a ghost on some unsuspecting whales, and a simple audio link is all that's needed to do that.  If that communication link is maintained and her pod comes for her, release her right there, as soon as they show up, even if it's in the harbor.

If her pod doesn't come for her, release her several miles from her pod and watch both.  Leave the transporting harness in the water, and be prepared to take her back if she appears to be trying to get back into it, but don't return her to her tank, take her where there are other captive orcas.

So there is doubt?  Since there is doubt I would have to say no.  It really doesn't matter to me if a whale is in a tank.
