i want your opinion, do you think gas prices will ever go back down below $3.00 a gallon? what do you think?

I'd say that if the dollar stabilizes and we can resolve the unrest in the Mideast, sub-$3 gasoline is a very real possibility.  Industry analysts maintain that oil prices, after subtracting for the waek dollar, should be in the $60-80 per barrel range, putting us around $2.80 for finished gasoline.

The recent price spike is very heavily affected by the dollar's decline on the international market.  The dollar buys less, so everyting costs more.  Commodities are shooting up.  Gold and platinum are at or near all time highs.  Investors are seeking a hedge against the weak dollar inflation and commodities are always a popular choice.  Six months ago, gold was about $700 an ounce, now it's trading near $1000.

Once the US economy settles and takes its bitter pill to fix the mortgage and housing crises, prices will soften.

Perhaps very briefly if there is some surge in supply.  But gas prices will never settle down at below $3 for any extended period of time.

i don't think so. Unless we no longer rely so much on gas...the gas companies and any government officials related to them will continue to make gigantic profits
