  1. Senior Players did not take responsibility, specially Smith, Gibbs and Kallis in batting, and senior bowlers are also out of their shoes.

  2. First of all they have all played bad shots in the way the way they got out.

Plus Shaun pollock is really missed, because he was a great allrounder, who used to give away like 20-25 runs in 10 overs bowling with the newball, and was a destructive lower order batsmen. The team isnt as balanced as before.

moreover the youngsters aint doing that well, and few other experinced players have also left.

but it might be a bit too early to commentate on south africas future in ODIs

  3. the reason is one word ENGLAND...

the british have finally started to play like the people that invented the game....

KP is also influencing the team,i think the team feels more comfortable with KP as captain...

  4. england had great intensity

  5. South African batsmen failed to perform. The highest total they made is 255, chasing 276 to win. South Africa does not have good ODI bowlers.

Dale Steyn is very good in Test, in ODI's he is below average, same could be said of Ntini. Nel is effective at times, but inconsistent.

Highest run scorer for RSA- H. Gibbs - 138 from 5 inns average - 27.20

(Hashim Amla averages - 41.50 from 3 inns, the only other batsman with an average above 20.00)

    J. Kallis & J. Botha took 4 wickets each in the series, highest wicket takers for RSA. (Avgs 22.75 & 23.25 respectively)

    avgs of other bowlers -

Albie Morkel - 30 (bowled in only 1 match)

    Morne Morkel 83

    D. Steyn - 62.66

    Makhaya Ntini - 130

(Nel & Philander has not taken a wicket at all)

& Kallis, Steyn, Albie Morkel & Philander has given away 6 or more runs per over. Botha the only bowler with an economy rate below 5.00

On the other hand, except for Collingwood (avg:- 14) & Luke Wright (avg:- 19) every English batsman, who got a chance to bat averages more than 30.00. Flintoff tops with an batting avg of 187.00 (got out only once)

In Bowling, Flintoff has taken 13 wicket @ 11.53 apiece

    S. Broad - 10 wickets @ 18.00

    S. Patel - 8 @ 17.37

Anderson the only failure, who picked up one wicket at an avg of 112. And Ravi Bopara, who bowled only 2 overs is the most expensive bowler with an eco. rate of 5.50, and the rest ranges below 4.60

It was a total failure by RSA, they were outplayed by England in all departments.

  6. I have been watching some replays of this series. The whole South African team is to blame for their poor performance in this series. They don't seem to be working and playing well as a group. There aren't any performers from South Africa. All the players seem clueless.

In saying this, KP's captaincy has been excellent. He has been using his players well. Also, the English players seem to work together better as a team with KP around as captain.
