What do you think the Mayans are predicting will happen in the year 2012?

I've always thought about this. Kinda scared me when I was a kid. still does. lol. what do they mean?

This question has been asked a million times.  Nothing is predicted to happen.  Their calendar has both large and small cycles.  A large cycle ends in 2012.  Then the next large cycle begins.

No doomsday.  Just the end of one epoch and the start of a new one.  Don't read the conspiracy about this, just read the facts about Mayan calendar and cycles.  Its actually very clear.

The Mayans aren't predicting anything, because they disappeared a few centuries ago. No one can match their calendar with ours, so saying a long cycle ends in 2012 is only a wild guess. The end of a cycle doesn't mean the end of the world in any case.

They were great astronomers. They tracked planets and watched the stars. In 2012 all the planets in our solar system are suppose to align. I don't believe there will be any great event. The Mayan calendar is cyclical the date the calendar restarts is on point to be December 21, 2012. Don't worry so much.

The winter solstice in 2012 (December 21st ish) is simply the 13th cycle of the mayan calendar. The mayans beleived that that would be the date when the current world would transition to the next.

As Mayans are extinct, they are not available for this. Hence I am predicting what will happen in 2012. China will become largest economic superpower in the world and it's GDP will exceed that of US. All kids in the US will require to learn Mandarin (official language of China) ... argh! need to know 46,000 characters compared to just 26 alphabets in English... :(

Anyway...

I don't think the Mayans predicted anything at all to happen, other than the ending of the calendar and them having to calculate a new one - Planets aligning and such sounds kinda cool - I hope we get some great astronomical photos on that!

I thought say said something like another stage in human life will happened like they predicted the arrival of Europeans to the Americas.

I believe in 2012 humanity will be visited by another life form than are own which like the Europeans their visit will be unpredictable in which their aim is. Otherwise the word ending no I dont believe that but being visited by another life form is Earth changing
