It seems that many think birthmothers simply choose adoption over abortion, and therefore are choosing life over death.

  1. Programs should be set up to help the pregnant mothers whose situation of non supportive relatives, parents, fathers, etc force them to give the baby up for adoption.  Programs that would give them a place to live, help with daycare, schooling or job training if necessary and lost cost housing (similar to Habitat for Humanity).  A lot of adoptions happen (mine for instance) because the mothers are young and have no chance of raising the baby by themselves because their parents are against keeping the baby, they have no other relatives willing to help and the birth father can't or won't help either.  We need a system set up to help these mothers keep their babies and support themselves.

  2. i think prevention is always the best choice. abortion IS NOT a choice in my mind or heart so i believe that education and prevention of unwanted pregnancies is the best way to go. the availability of condoms and other birth control options ...along with the morning after pill....need to be more readily available .

  3. Parenting their child that they got pregnant with in the first place whether on purpose or accidently. God provides for everyone on Earth. You don't have to kill your child or give it to strangers to be raised.

  4. birth mothers are choosing life over death, they are brave woman

  5. Adopt from the 115,000 kids in foster care, leave vulnerable mothers-to-be alone and stop feeding the money-hungry agencies and facilitators who prey on these womens' self doubt

  6. first, adoption is not an alternative to abortion. parenting is an alternative to adoption. abortion is in a category all its own.

honestly, i think the alternatives are better support for natal/first/birth mother, and adoption reform so that relinquishing mothers and aparents are fully informed of the risk and benefits of adoption.

  7. The alternative to infant adoption is parenting. It's that simple.

Women need to be informed--thoroughly informed--of the resources out there to help them parent. Programs focused on family preservation need to be better funded. Government money needs to stop going to infant adoption agencies.

Ugh. This is making me mad, thinking about the current system. Can't write anymore.
