  1. england will win i just hope they can try to be more creative i mean tait is actually a genius but he just will not show it for england

  2. I suspect England will edge a win to proceed to the Quarters, but wouldn't it be great if Tonga meant the end of the English world cup.

As for me, I'm still trying to figure out whether Tonga was flattered by terrible play from South Africa or whether they truly have improved greatly and South Africa under estimated them. It remains to be seen!

  3. The Tongan World Cup Squad consists of players that have played for New Zealand, UK, France and Japan, this is their best team yet to enter the World Cup.  And I strongly believe they have what it takes to beat England and progress to the Quarter Finals for the first time.  Go Tonga!!

  4. I reckon the game could go either way. I'd like to see Tonga win. They were amazing in the South Africa game.

  5. Good if we keep our discipline a lot better.

  6. HAHA

NO chance in h**l at all what so ever.

(unless england number 10 drop goals.)

  7. I hope I am wrong but I can see England winning fairly easily.  No matter what happens though, if England does win, then we will hear a week of drivel about how that's exactly the game they needed and they are feeling supremely confident of causing an upset over Australia and yadda yadda yadda, blah blah blah and then they'll run out on the field and get spanked by 30 points against the Wobblies.

    ***edit***

Isn't it an amazing sign of how badly England have fallen in the last few years that we are even discussing this question?

  8. Tonga by 6 points............. not going to make any difference if 'lil Jonny plays or not. Even if he does, he's going to get caned by some big Tongan flanker within the first 15 minutes

English rugby is so d**n BORING to watch.

  9. i am sorry to say but Tonga will walk over England. Tonga has proved themself in this world cup, they put on an excellent fight against south Africa and almost won that game, they play roughly the same game as South Africa. England could not scored one point against south Africa.

what gives you the idea that England can win against Tonga

  10. Better than wales beating south africa.

  11. Depends on the injuries, but I think they have a fighting good chance!

It'll depend on who wants it more, England or Tonga.

  12. If johnny is playing, tactically they should win.Tonga plays with their heart on their sleeve and throw caution to the wind,England on experience should win comfortably but the way the English are playing, they dnt look like world beaters....GO ALLBLACKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  13. I think our chances are good.  Tonga have done well to beat both Samoa and USA, but their best result has to be the recent one against SA.  The good news from that is that they played out of their shirts, but still lost a very close match.

If England can deal with their strength up front, and stop their runners out wide, then we have the players who can score points.

It won't be pretty, because so much depends on it, but it will be thrilling.

    Bring it on!

  14. Tonga have what it takes. but i think it will just be to much for them England will put theirs strongest team on the field and Tonga might not have what it takes. they played a great game last week but lets not forget that SA had a inexperienced team on the field and needed the likes of steyn, smith, habana, Montgomery and victor to get the game back Tonga would have fallen much worse if the first team was playing since kick off. has everything to be a great game. two teams 1 place left who's gonna take it!

  15. I think the result depends on whether Wilkinson is playing. He's not playing at top form at the moment but he brings stability to the team. Tonga are great in the lose but if England keep the ball tight, then they should have the uperhand in the set pieces and can beat them by playing a structured game.

  16. If Wilkinson is playing then England have a chance but if he gets injured at some stage soon then I think England may struggle.  South Africa underestimated  Tonga & so played a mainly 2nd string side.  This almost led to what would have been the biggest upset ever in the history of the Rugby World Cup!  If Wilkinson doesn't go off injured then I think England should win, however England are not the same side without him & will battle to beat the up for it Tongans!

  17. If Johnny Wilkinson is playing you stand a chance, if not, my commiserations.:)

  18. Pretty good, if they dont suffer any more injuries in training.

Me thinks its going to be hard game and possibly a very close 1.

  19. Englsnd will probably win because they will slow the game right down to suite their own tactics. This will frustrate Tonga who paly brilliantly when the game is allowed to flow. I doubt it will be pretty.

However, Oz will enforce their tactics and will by 15 points in Q4.

  20. When Samoa nearly beat England at the 2003 World Cup they lost their next game 58-10 to South Africa. I fear the same fate wil befall Tonga. They are just not used to tough international rubgy week in and week out.

  21. It should be an England win, but that's the beauty of sport you can never really tell, look what happened to Man U this week.

Anyway if England play a good basic game they should win, they have the extra experience, fitness and should have the mental attitude. It should be a game to far for Tonga, but even if it is what a world cup they have had. Some fantastic results and the one against South Africa will be historic for them, but remember they played out of their skins for that and South Africa were very poor by their standards.

As a supporter I hope that England will win and win well but I hope that Tonga will give a good count of themselves. Whatever they should get a heroes welcome when they get home.

I think that the money the IRB has ploughed into the smaller nations with defence and attack coaching has paid dividends. The "minnows" of the world have sharpened their teeth and come close to providing a few upsets.

Something has definitely gone wrong in the Northern hemisphere as all our teams seem to be struggling. France are by far the strongest and they have not looked great. Maybe we need to be looking at the preparation, the effect of this years six nations, the big European cup finals being held so close to the start of the world cup. The time given to the actual squads to train together since January 2007.

  22. No chance.

  23. I hope not...I think tonga are great for the game of rugby, play a great brand  and are very entertaining...

  24. Tonga are good ..proofed it against Samoa and South Africa.

But if England play like they did against Samoa...they have a change ...especially with Johny in the team...

    Ill hold thumbs for them.

  25. Tonga will win because they are on a high after such a good game against SA b team.  It will be a close match, but Tonga will outmuscle the english team and wear them down with the hard hits.

  26. well if england steps it up im sure they could beat the tongans, although they are very strong. So i think its even chances

  27. About the same as Bin Laden being the next US President.

No, sorry, that was an insult to the abilities of Bin Laden

  28. Despite how well Tonga have played and how badly England have played, this is not a game that England should come particularly close to losing.  Tonga have played well against a South Africa side that did not play the same percentage game plan that they played against England, they rested key players to start and attempted to play a fairly open game which suited Tonga, by the time they brought on their starters the game had turned into an open game.

England will more than likely play the game very much within a structured (boring) forward game and wear down the Tongan pack with scrums and mauls, thereby limiting Tonga's attacking threat.

  29. We'll hammer them, however I don't think we'll get much further. We're just not good enough.

  30. good, if tonga had a bus accident on the way to the game..

  31. What ever they do, do not field a so called second string team like South Africa did or they will see there ar#*!
