  1. There is absolutley zero chance of that.  The "science" that movie was based on was flimsier than a bargain trash bag full of lead weights.  Although the Earth is destined to have another Ice Age, it is due to the natural heating and cooling cycles of the planet.  You do realize the Earth has existed for 4.6 BILLION years and our pathetic 100 year (at best) weather studies are but a micro-second in comparison.  We have a much more likely chance of the movie scenario "Independence Day" happening.

  2. We probably are .... in 50 more years

    ¦ '

  3. Ask someone who was in that deadly tornado outbreak! They saw what global warming can do!

  4. Someone decided that we had to get girls involved in science and this is the payoff.

  5. Do you believe frost can chase you down a hallway?

Sorry, even in a state of suspended disbelief, this movie defies logic and a basic understanding of physics.

  6. Watch all these movies and you will all be brain washed, no chance that we will end up like the day after tomorrow, Remember the true account of the 1938 War of the worlds Radio Broadcast, The Aliens Are Coming, People really believed what they heard and people freaked out.

  7. No. It wasnt a bad movie--but the "science" was worse than you see in most comic boks! :)

What the producer (or writer, etc.--I don't know who the guilty party was) did was pickup on a rather strange possibility that could arise because of global warming.  Basicallly, some models show that, if enough polar ice melts in the Artic, it could result in the warm-water Gulf Stream shifting its course away from the coasts of North America and Western Europe.  Since the Stream's warm waterhelps keep the climate in those regions warm, this would have a cooling effect. It could even produce a "mini-ice age."  Rather ironic, when you think about it--the Earth getting warmer on average, but that region actuallly becoming cooler in the process.

But some thing like the movie? Not going to happen. Also, even if a mini ice age did start, it would take many years--probably centuries. Not overnight as in the movie.

The climate change models of possibilities like thisare usefull for planning research--that's why the scientists develop them. And they are also a good illustration of just how complex the climate changes may be. But keep in mind, this kind of thing hasn't happened yet--these are not like the man-made global warming, or the melting of the polar ice tha tis occuring. Those are proven facts. Models  like that of the Gulf Stream shifting are still hypotheses, and may never happen.

  8. Zero.  It was just a movie and it was extremely far fetched. It was even worse than the movie where the people go to the center of the earth. If we do have an ice age it will advance far more slowly than that.

  9. Not likely...that movie was ridiculous.  There might be certain portions/components that could happen, but as for everything to happen--no.

  10. yup, sure do lol YAY!

  11. In that scenario, it was one scientist warning about the salinity change in the oceans and that would cause the current change.  What caused the salinity change?  What else:  Global Warming!

See, it takes Global Warming to get a Global Cooling...

    Others you may find:

Severe hurricane season? -> Global Warming.

Mild hurricane season? -> Global Warming.

    Drought? -> Global Warming.

Too much rain? -> Global Warming.

Not enough snow? -> Global Warming.

Too much snow? -> Global Warming.

Arctic ice shrinks? -> Global Warming.

Arctic ice grows? -> Global Warming.

There is Zero chance of the movie happening in real life.  Especially in the timeline that they portrayed it.   Utter nonsense.

  12. No grasshopper.
