  1. Petty is probably going to have to merge with someone, that seems like the trend these days.

I wouldn't mind seeing Jr. or Stewart buying a piece of the action.

    Go back to Chevy.

Put together 3/4 teams, Bobby, Jr, Stewart, and bring up a new hot kid driver,

Needs new blood, new energy, new money, to mix along with the maturity of a seasoned driver.

  2. as long as Kyle Petty drives ... 42 place

  3. Sometime soon they will need to merge with another team, probably Gillett/Evernham, or they may face extiction.  We are not too far away from all the remaining teams being 4 cars strong.  Of the 4 manufacturers right now, Dodge is by far the weakest.  There is presently not one Dodge team that has more than 3 cars fulltime and none that have more than 2 cars locked into the top 35 in owner's points.  They need to all work together in order to stay viable in the new era.  The addition of Toyota has changed the whole landscape of stock car racing as we know it and the costs to stay competitive are only going to escalate.

    3 STR8 N 08!!!

  4. IF they find a corporate "partner"

    IF Bobby Labonte stays

IF Dodge comes up with a better package SOON

I still have faith that Petty can rebuild and once again be a force in NASCAR. But without any of the three above, I think they will remain a 3rd class team.

  5. I think Petty racing will prevail,

They are like the Wood Brothers, they will continue to function

maybe not 100% and win every weekend , but they are to famous to just fold

  6. Petty Enterprises hasn't been very good in the past few years. They did pick up Bobby Labonte though. He's an okay racer. Kyle Petty could be more consistent, if he had the following:

    1.)Better equipment

2.)More sponsors to help him out

    3.)Team chemistry was better

The above things also apply to Bobby Labonte. I think that when Kyle Petty and Bobby Labonte retires, the team will continue to participate in NASCAR. But probably wont be as involved as much then as they are now. I think that their next big task ahead of them is to find drivers that will eventually replace Kyle and Bobby. And change some members of Petty Enterprises. No one will exactly know what the future holds in store for this team, but we're all hoping for the best.

  7. I am a Life long Richard Petty Fan...... The future unfortunately holds more sub Par finishes and Non Competitive Race Cars!!!!!!!

  8. If Bobby Labonte leaves Petty I think unless they merge with someone you can stick a fork in them. I would hate to see that but its gotten to where its the nature of the business(Nascar) right now. Lets hope for the sake of Nascar and the real fans Petty will make it through the rough times.

  9. Hard to get into races? Oops, is that to late? They need to find a better motor package, maybe team up with another team. Hire a better driver, that may be a start, but if they don't fix the problem very soon, I see them filing bankruptcy.

  10. Wow...Petty Enterprise -- Still there, but struggleing.  Kyle continues todrive, Bobby decides to stay, and they get a sponsor to replace the one their losing, they'll still be right where they are now.  Put Kyle behind a desk, get a "young gun" in his spot, let Bobby pull them along for the next 2 seasons; get a big sponosor and Petty Enterprise might make it..

  11. I think they need to find a big corporate partner, 2 drivers in addition to Bobby labonte and dodge needs to do some R&D to develop thier product.

I think they will remain a third rate team until they get help with corp bucks and some more Horsepower from dodge

  12. Sadly, at the rate things are going.. Petty is going to have to look for people to join the reins with or it is going to be a lost legacy..

He doesn't have the competitive edge he needs, and it is getting too expensive.

I really hope something gives, b/c I would really hate to see the name Petty tarnished by the big money days of Nascar.
