I currently work as an A&P for a major airline and I know the industry is under alot of stress with fuel costs. I'm considering becoming a pilot but it will take me about 3 year to get there. What do you think of the hiring forecast in a few years?

  1. The industry is going to need candidates with experience. The only way to get it is to asimilate yourself into the job. Join the Airforce. Get a position in cargo air.

  2. The Pilots of the future will be Robots.

No Drinking They can fly unlimited hours without sleep. Don't have to pay them.

  3. due to the amount of planes being purchased by major airlines e;g the a380 there is going to be a big demand for pilots in the future.

  4. The demand for pilots is increasing at the moment. A lot of older airline pilots are retiring and as mentioned by someone else with the introduction of the a380 and the Dreamliner, more planes will be purchased thus creating more jobs.

Ignore the bit about robots piloting planes. There will always be human pilots because human lives will not be left to artificial intelligence.

  5. cannot be known.
