i can't decide if growing up in this craziness sounds scary or exciting...

although it's proly been the same for every generation.

   The world is in a long period of balancing. Where there was mad waste and ruin, there will be conservation and reconstruction. Where there was darkness there will be light. Where there was elitism there will be egalitarianism. Where there was "good ol' boy" thinking there will be feminine energy. Also, we have made Earth sick, and she will heal herself by any means necessary.

good point, i think in 10 yrs, gas will cost $20/gal but we will all be driving hover cars that get 20 billion mi/gal

all our heroes will be replaced by the people that we grew up with,

we'll have computers so com paked that you can carry them in the pocket or less. you will have some sort of travel that is going to be so fast you won't believe it and there will be things in space an use moving there somewhere. the gas will be non existent. i mean there is so much i can't even begin to tell what will be different. its hard to say but then it will be alot different and homes will be on top of each other and most people will be burnt instead of buried. the whole entire earth will be changed for ever.

I don't think it will be that different. 1998 wasn't that different to 2008, was it?

Obviously there will be more technological advances, and hopefully less use of fossil fuels and plastics. And if we're going to be really optimistic, more equality and less bigotry.

I think one of the biggest changes is that global power will shift from the West to the East. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, because I think countries like China will get their act together regarding human rights abuses etc.

But in the great scheme of things, one decade isn't such a long time. What will the world be like in 50, or 100 years' time? Now that's another story...

Scary. There is so much fighting and war (not just ours) out there right now. I hope that it turns around. My friends daughter is going to 1st grade and hasn't seen her country in peace yet. I fear that I am going to bring a son into this world. I will do all that I can to make it right.

well just this year alone compared to last year gas prices raised up quite alot so its going to get very expensive in the future in 10 years lol,  higher gas price= higher price for food transportation, since u need gas to power the vehicles and planes that transfer to food to your nearest grocery market.

You sound like you are 1 or 2 generations behind me.  Even growing up in the 1960's & 1970's, I didn't know where we (the Human Race) was going and whether or not there will be a world when I was 30 or even 40.  Well, there is, and I'm almost 50.  It may not be perfect, but it's all we have.   The problem is the people who feel that everyone should follow their beliefs or dictates or whatever.

What do I think the world will be like in 10 years? Or even 5 years?  Probably (not proly....) not very different than what it's like now, only more expensive.  We may be using less oil and more alternative fuels, or we may be eating some bizarre food alternative because we can't grow enough food to feed ourselves.  Or some idiot might get trigger happy & push "THE" button.  We just never know, is what I'm getting at.  So don't worry about the future - the future will take care of itself.  All you or anyone can do is be the best person you can be and try to help make things better somehow.
