well i went to an interview today with the lady from hr and was basically asked how long i'd worked at my last job, went over some of my experience, and then she went over all the job duties at the company. At the end she asked if i had any questions. I did my research and asked my questions she made comments like great question, glad you asked that, and i'm impressed that you took time to look at our website. well at the end of the interview she asked if it was things i could do. i said yes and she said well you're our second interview so we'll be interviewing for a few weeks and then narrow it down. then call back those for a second interview with her and the president. my question is that she didn't ask about why i left any of my jobs. does anyone know if they'd ask about that in the second interview? i was verbablly abused at my last job and left the company the day i gave my notice instead of working it out. i was just afraid that would hurt my chances. this is all what if i get an interview. i know i'm getting a head of the game, but i was just curious.

  1. The second interview is the final step before getting a job. They are going to ask you tougher questions but also ask questions about you as a person and how you may act at work or under stress.

  2. They will ask you questions about your skills and you better be prepared to convince them that you are the best candidate, with support obviously from your past experience.  Mention how your skills from your past work or other work will help you in this company.  Greatest weakness?  Twist it into something good or something that you are working on and see change..same with greatest challenge.

    Best of luck!

If they do ask you why you left your last position, don't leave the impression that you left on bad terms.  Say something neutral on both your behalf and theirs so that you don't seem too demanding, too offended, or can't handle tough situations (and instead quit).  Like your weakness, twist it into a positive light.

And try not to script answers out too much.  They want to see that you know your stuff but have not memorized answers to specific questions.
