For the first time recently I had styes in my eyes but now a large puffy bump formed under my left bottom eyelid lashes and has swollen my eye to the point where my vision is being affected. My eye appears much smallerI than the other. The pain and vision impairment seems to be more drastic every night when i go to bed. It is very painful like it is bruised. I also have another red bump next to it on the right more but isnt painful. Any thoughts and tips would be appreciated.

  1. i have worked in the eyecare industry for the past 8 years and my strong recommendation is to do warm compresses. I promise you that will help and do it for up to 4 times a day. it basically needs to drain just like any other clogged duct.

  2. I would bet that it's a chalazion, which is a result of the glands underneath your eyelid being blocked and inflamed (in crudest terms, it's like a zit). After the main infection has subsided, the pain should recede. When I had one, they didn't cause me pain, and maybe that's the case with your second bump.

The vision impairment is due to the pressure on the cornea from the bump. The increasing pain I cannot account for, unfortunately.

I WOULD have recommended a hot compress for 10-15 minutes 4 times a day (including massaging of the area), but it sounds like your case is rather severe. You should see an optometrist immediately, so he/she can prescribe antibiotics.

    Hope this helps =)
