  1. To everyone, it means something different.  To me, it means it's things like helping a stranger out that makes you feel good about yourself for a lifetime. Almost like the saying, don't take things for granted.


  2. Usually the quote refers to things people think of as simple because we see them everyday: birth, children, flowers, nature, friendships.

    Only when you lose them do we realize they're special.

    A sort of don't things for granted observation, I guess

It's like how you can easily get caught up in life and the focus becomes fixated on the "important " things (school, career, money, etc.) and it takes a simple thing maybe like a note from your boyfriend that saying good morning/i love you/etc. or like a hug from your mom after what seems like the worst day of your life + then you realize that it doesn't make much to make your day the best it could be and that all it really takes is for someone to show that they care in the simplest way and that you don't need anything extravagant to be happy
